The company of British origin is now owned fully by the Indian Tata Motors. Tata acquired the Brand in March 2008. The company came into being by the efforts of Sir William Lyons in the year 1922. The company was earlier named as Swallow Side Car Company which, as the name suggests, was into making motorcycle hacks. Post World War II, the company was rechristened as Jaguar. It was said that the terms Swallow Side could be abbreviated as SS and the abbreviation was considered to be out of favor by the west during World War II. Guess why? Apparent! Now, the company is currently headquartered in Coventry in England. The ownership of the Jaguar went into several hands before finally vesting with the Tata. The Jaguar is a premium luxury car maker whose prices range well above the competitive pricing of the Key players. Jaguar has never compromised on standards. They have made a long history and that reflects the quality of their brand.
