Citroen, the French automaker plans to enter the Indian market in 2020 with its C5 Aircross SUV. The company's second offering for India will be a sub-4m compact SUV based on the C3 Aircross model that will be launched sometime in 2021. The new compact SUV of Citroen will be built on a different platform which is to be developed specifically for India. The engine powering the C5 Aircross will be a single 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 174bhp power and 400Nm of peak torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with five grip modes - standard, snow, all-terrain, sand, and traction-off. The C5 Aircross holds a lot of goodies and safety features including blind spot monitoring, hill start and hill descent assist, six airbags, electric parking brake, fog lights with cornering function, and park assist with automated steering for parallel or bay parking. In terms of competition, the upcoming mid-size SUV will rival against the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V, Volkswagen Tiguan, and the new Jeep Compass.
