UM Motorcycles is about to introduce the dual-purpose Hypersport motorcycle in India by 2018 at the Auto Expo event. Here the dual purpose refer to both the on and off road styling thus suitable for both commuting as well as for long trips. The bike is to be powered by a 230cc air-cooled engine producing peak power of 16PS @ 7500rpm and 17.7Nm @ 5500rpm of maximum torque. The engine gets mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Hypersport will be featuring telescopic forks suspension at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear, aluminium alloy wheels, disc brakes at both the ends along with an upright seating posture. Moreover to enhance the performance and to ensure the safety, the bike is to be offered with a lot of safety and electronic gadgetry that includes the UM developed SAM (System Auto Maintenance) system indicating when auto maintenance is required and intermittent anti-theft lights. Blind spot mirrors are also to be added for enhanced visibility. In order to prevent the tyres from getting punctured often, they are filled with anti-flat sealant. The bike is expected to be priced in the range between 1.5 to 1.8 lakhs.
