March 17,2009 - Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd.(M&M),the acknowledged market leader in favourable vehicles launched the New, Mighty Muscular Scorpio at an attractive price of Rs.7.21 lakhs in the ex-showroom,Delhi.It was the first product in India to offer a BS-IV compliant version and is available across all variants.It is powered by an advanced mHawk engine with Micro Hybrid Technology.The capacity of its engine is 2.2 litres.
January 24,2008 - Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M), India’s leading automotive brand declared the launch of of the Mahindra Scorpio SUV and its Pik-Up range in Brazil in partnership with Bramont-Montadora Industrial e Comercial de Veiculos Ltda.The models introduced in the Brazilian market are powered by the 2.6 litre Mahindra Common Rail engine that delivers 110 hp. The models are available with 4X2 and 4X4 electronic shift on the fly and the engine conforms to Euro III emission norms. From 2009, Mahindra vehicles were offered with a Euro IV compliant engine.

Engine
Scorpio is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk diesel engine with a displacement of 2179 cc.To keep the engine cool,it is fitted with a top mounted intercooler.The engine delivers a power of 121.7PS at 4000rpm and produces a torque of 280Nm between 1800rpm and 2800rpm.It is featured with a 5 Speed Manual Transmission Gearbox that offers smooth gear shifting and greater mileage.It has a very good fuel efficiency due to the presence of CRDI(Common Rail Direct Injection) fuel supply system present in the engine with 4 valves per cylinder.
Mileage and Fuel Economy
The high powerful engine of Mahindra Scorpio is well known for its very good fuel efficiency and the manual gearbox present in it guarantees good performance and endeavours an impressive scorpio mileage of 12 kmpl.
Handling and Safety
Scorpio is equipped with both active and passive safety features for safeguard purposes.The Anti lock Braking System present in Scorpio helps in maintaining the stability of the car and also prevents the wheel locking in case of sudden braking.The Dual SRS Air bag helps in reducing the collision effect and offers a cushioning effect in collision and jerk.Some other safety measures are child lock,high mounted stop lamp,double horn, side impact beams , tubeless tyres, etc.

Mahindra Scorpio Getaway
This variant is featured with a 2.6L, 2609cc, diesel engine. It satisfies only BS III emission norms and hence it is not suitable for metro cities.

This is the enhanced version of Scorpio with additional features like ABS (Anti lock Braking system), Air dams and mud flaps, front fog lamps, voice assist system, electrically operated ORVMs, middle row sliding seats, etc.
