Yamaha Ray-ZR Review

Yamaha is on a snatch piece of the pie mission in India and bikes appear to be its weapon of decision. The Ray was propelled in 2012 and it was pointed unequivocally at the more pleasant sex. This was trailed by the Ray-Z for young men, the unisex Alpha and the Fascino for the mold cognizant. Yamaha has now got the Ray-ZR. It is the fifth iteration.

Design and Style

The vast plastic front cover houses a new headlight, and the incorporated turn indicators add to the frontal width. The cowl on the handlebar features sharp crease lines and that’s pretty much a standard design feature throughout the entire scooter. The side boards are more keen and sleeker with false braces that give it a dash of energy. I especially like the rear panels that appear to cover when seen sideways.

The instrument console is all new and it houses an analogue speedo, fuel gauge and the usual telltale lights.

Ergonomically, the Ray-ZR's size is ideal for normal measured people, with its 775mm seat stature permitting you to keep your feet level on the ground at stop. But, the floorboard will appear to be just about sufficient for individuals with huge feet.

Additionally, on the off chance that you are as tall as 6-feet-plus, you'll discover the bars fouling with your knees while making tight, feet up U-turns.

Engine Specification

The Ray-ZR uses the same 113cc, air-cooled, Blue Core engine that powers its other platform mates. Its 7.2PS and 8.1Nm figures may not seem exciting on paper, but the 103kg kerb weight results in adequate acceleration.

It's snappy off the line and we enrolled a 0-60kmph time of 10.2 seconds. The Ray-ZR best out at 85kmph which is useful for a city-centered bike. In any case, for a bike that looks this great, more power would've been awesome.

Indeed, even at full whack there is by no vibration, making supported 80kmph or more highway rides a breeze.

Fuel Economy

The efficiency is very noteworthy as well, with the bike figuring out how to convey 53.2kmpl in the city and 62.5kmpl on the highway.

Braking and Handling

The front forks offer great damping over harsh streets, and ride quality is not too bad considering the small 90/100-10 53J wheels. There is, however, a claimed crash when riding over sharp trenches, yet fortunately the bike does not get hurled out of line in such circumstances.

The unit swing arm at the rear is equally good at ironing out the bumps.

The Ray-ZR, aside from the Alpha, is the main Yamaha to get a discretionary disc brake which is both dynamic and offers a solid chomp. They are not very sharp which guarantees that the front end does not lock up effectively. We recorded a 60-0kmph distance of 22.3m (wet surface) which is better than the drum brake equipped Ray-Z.

Verdict

The Ray-ZR with the alloy wheel and disc brake is valued at Rs 68,400 (on-street Mumbai). That is Rs 3,000 more than the steel-wheel, drum brake form. In correlation, the Fascino and Alpha are less expensive by Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,420 individually. Yamaha's strong properties of assemble quality, ride and taking care of proceed on the Ray-ZR. The styling is engaging and it will evoke genuine emotion with the adolescent, its essential target.
