Yamaha India has introduced the new bike known as Yamaha Gladiator in Indian market with attractive price of around Rs.47,990 – Rs.49,990. The company has all weapons with them in order to compete with other two wheeler manufacturer. It would be a very tough competitor to its similar other bike manufacturers namely Bajaj bikes, TVS bikes, Hero bikes, Honda bikes etc.

Style and Engineering

Yamaha Gladiator is one of the good looking bike adorned with funky graphics and paint job as well as sporty panels and ergonomics. The bike comes with the stylish dual tone front cowl and headlamp which holds bigger and crystal clear headlight. These features improves the front appearance of the bike and gives a pretty look while viewing. It has a front fender and the hood is mounted with a longer wind screen along with pearl white front blinker. The Yamaha Gladiator is fitted with a conventional instrument panel with three dials such as fuel guage, speedometer, odometer etc and it consists of an ignition hole at the same board. The fuel tank of the bike gives a macho look with company logo and racing stripes. It is loaded with a fresh design kick lever and toe gear shifter which adds more convenience to the rider. The Yamaha Gladiator comes with a longer and wider step up seat attached with a rear grab rail. It gets sharp tail side and rear cowl, rear turn indicators integrated in the tail lamp cluster and many more. The vehicle is bestowed with a machine gun type muffler which is covered in matte black shade and retractable footrest. It is a sporty bike comfortable for both rider and pillion with lot of features ensuring better fuel efficiency, performance and maintenance.

Yamaha Gladiator Engine

The Yamaha Gladiator features an innovative, fresh and proven Yamaha engine which provides a better power output and torque output. The Gladiator is equipped with a four stroke, single cylinder, air cooled, 2-valve, SOHC engine which gives a displacement very close to 123.7 cc. The engine can produces the net power output of 11 PS @ 7500 RPM in combination with the net torque output of 10.4 NM @ 6500 RPM. The engine of the bike is coupled with the five speed gearbox and wet multiplate clutch ensuring smooth gear change and ride. An engine cowl is added for protecting the engine and assuring better air flow which is one of the unique feature. In addition, the two wheeler comes with the self start facility which is easy to handle the bike.

Yamaha Gladiator Performance

The Yamaha Gladiator is believed to provide decent acceleration and pick up. The bike can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just a short span of 7 seconds. The maximum speed achieved by the Gladiator is around 108 kmph which is quite good. Since the vehicle is incorporated with Throttle Position Sensor helps in outstanding combustion efficiency and awesome pick up.

Yamaha Gladiator Mileage

The Yamaha Motors claims that the new Gladiator would generate a healthy mileage which would surely captures the bike enthusiasts. The bike can deliver a fuel economy of around 67 kmpl in urban roads whereas it gives 75 kmpl on highway roads. The fuel tank capacity of the Yamaha Gladiator is found to be approximately 13 litres.

Brakes and Suspensions

The Yamaha Gladiator is well packed with excellent braking system in order to offer better handling. The bike comes with front disc brake of diameter 240 mm while the rear brake is of drum type of diameter 130 mm. The combination of disc and drum brakes at the front and rear performs well for sudden braking. On the other hand, the standard suspension system helps in providing more control and comfort level. It is fitted with a front telescopic hydraulic fork and rear rectangular swing arm with hydraulic shock absorber. For better stability and balance on road, the bike has a steel pipe diamond tubular type chassis and the larger wheelbase makes the ride very pleasurable and safe. Moving to the wheels, the Gladiator comes fitted with aluminium alloy wheels of five spoke in matte finish which adds more stylish look to the bike. The front tire of the bike is measured as 2.75 x 18“ 4PR, 42P while the rear tire size is of 3.00 x 18” 6PR, 52P respectively.
