Hero Maestro Edge Review

Hero MotoCorp, the leader of commuter bikes involves in the production of scooter sales recently. This has been increased suddenly because of the ever increasing traffic in rural areas and riding convenience offered by the scooters. The new Maestro Edge is kept in a position between the Pleasure and Maestro. Do you want to know the Maestro Edge would be an apt vehicle for family?? Our test ride review has the answer for the question.

Hero has offer the scooter with a funky design in order to impress the youngsters which looks best in its segment and it has been priced in a range of Rs.49,500-Rs.50,700. Compared with the old Maestro, the new scooter is quite longer and taller but the width is less. The front fascia of the Maestro Edge has been revamped with a small windshield fitted above the bright headlamp along with dual tone rear view mirrors. Multiple cuts and creases are seen on the front apron and mudguard design which remains to be same for all panels. The rear section ends with an attractive LED tail light and unique design exhaust system.

Moving to the dashboard, the scooter comes with a redesigned analogue digital instrumental panel packed with lot of features giving a new styling appearance to the vehicle. It comprises a service reminder and revised switch gear receiving changes with the buttons in a silver panel on both sides of the handlebar. With this new instrument cluster, the quality is really good for its price range. Besides that, the Maestro Edge gets a side stand indicator and speedometer. A trip meter is also provided for fuel efficiency calculation in an easy way. It has a pass switch for the headlamp which is quite useful for night time riding.

Hero Maestro Edge is powered by a new 110.9cc engine generating the peak power of 8.43PS at 8000RPM along with peak torque of 8.3Nm at 6500RPM. The power delivered by the scooter is little bit higher than the old Maestro but the torque is found to be 10% lesser than the old Maestro. Hero’s new engine is best suited for city riding but lacking punch after 60kmph with the claimed mileage of 65.8 kmpl. Like the weight 110kg which remains to be the same, the performance of the new Maestro Edge has not been changed by a lot. It would give a decent acceleration and pick up as well as good stability at higher speeds.

According to me, the engine of the Maestro Edge is quite good for city rides but under-powered on highway roads. While overtaking a vehicle, the person should be planned at speeds crossing 60 kmph since mashing the throttle would not be much use. Compared with other scooters, we are not supposed to feel any vibrations while riding at a higher level of speeds that minimizes riding fatigue. In order to enhance the performance of engine, the scooter has excellent braking and suspension setup.

Riding dynamics of the vehicle is up to the satisfactory level in which the Maestro Edge gets multiple changes at the front including a bigger 12 inch wheel up front. This is quite helpful in tackling both good and bad road conditions in an easy way. When it is talking about handling, the vehicle comes with a modern telescopic suspension unit for riding comfort. It is well incorporated with an Integrated Braking System working well. I felt that the scooter has a main drawback which is its fuelling up. Hero has shifted the fuel filler outside and kept it right just behind the seat. Apart from that, the Maestro Edge is provided with a USB 3.0 charging slot as well as boot lamp which enhance the convenience of the rider.

Lot of changes is done for the new Hero Maestro Edge which definitely attracts the young riders. Some of its multiple useful features include charging port, luggage lamp beneath the seat, rear luggage hook, and magnetic holder for the stand. All these features add more convenience to the riders for a comfortable riding experience. In order to prevent from small puncture, the scooter is fitted with alloy wheels with tubeless tyres which help in air leakage.

Even though Hero Maestro Edge has striking appearance, excellent handling and VFM quotient it lacks under seat storage capacity. And the rear view mirror of the scooter provides only a little adjustment and it needs to be improved.

Considering all the points, Hero Maestro Edge would be a perfect choice for the daily riders and it would be really a value for money.
