S 1000 RR, the flagship motorcycle of BMW is currently in its third generation. It is available in three variants viz., Standard, Pro and Pro M Sport. The all-new S 1000 RR gets both mechanical and design-wise upgrades. The updated model is now more stylish and sharper than before with its new panels and LED projector headlamps. It features a redesigned chassis which is a new twin-spar Aluminium frame and a lighter trellis sub-frame with compact fairings. Other upgrades include the Hayes brakes instead of the Brembos and a Marzocchi suspension instead of the Sachs-branded suspension. The electronics package also gets updated with four standard riding modes - Road, Rain, Dynamic and Race. The higher Pro and Pro M Sport variants get three additional 'Pro' riding modes viz., RACE Pro 1, RACE Pro 2, RACE Pro 3. All the three Pro riding modes are equipped with features like launch control, pit-lane speed limiter. The updated S 1000 RR also features a six-axis sensor cluster that helps power the cornering ABS, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), wheelie control, engine braking control and even the hill-start control. BMW also offers its updated supersport with a 6.5-inch TFT instrument console and Bluetooth connectivity. The engine powering the bike now uses BMW’s ShiftCam Technology, which allows variable valve timing (VVT) to offer better performance. The 999cc, in-line four-cylinder engine produces 206.6PS of power at 13,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm and gets mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a standard up-down quickshifter. The power output is nearly 8.1PS more than the previous-gen model. Also, the new bike weighs around 11 kg lighter than the outgoing BMW S 1000 RR.
