Tata Motors has launched two new commercial passenger vehicles – Tata Magic and Tata Winger. As a completely Indian company, you can trust Tata Motors to know the market like the back of its hand. It had sensed the demand for commercial passenger vehicles in the rural and urban markets and aptly launched both the models to comfortably suit the desired needs of respective markets. Tata Winger is basically a maxi-van but Magic is just a remodeled passenger version of Tata Ace which is its commercial vehicle.

Dimensions

The Tata Winger DICOR has a pretty generous load area which has a 2755mm length and 1517mm width. It measures 4920mm in length, 1905mm in width and 2050mm in height and a wheelbase of 3200mm. It has a ground clearance of 165mm and a turning circle radius of 6.4mm.

Design and Style

This maxi van looks quite decent and comes with a lot of attractive exterior features. The front fascia has a bold radiator grille which is mounted with few black horizontal slats. The bumpers come in body colour, which incorporate a large air intake section which helps in cooling down the engine. Further, the front includes a couple of fog lights which are provided for better visibility in bad weather conditions. Coming to the side profile, this vehicle has black coloured mouldings; door handles and manually adjusted outside rear view mirrors. The doors are sliders which make is easier for the passenger to entry and exit. The rear appearance of this maxi van is very sober having a large windscreen along with wipers and high mounted stop lights. Apart from these, it has clear lens tail light cluster as well as turn indicators.

Featuring a dual tone colour scheme, the interiors of this maxi van are decorated neatly and soberly. Engine Specification

A 2.0-litre diesel engine is equipped in this maxi van. This turbocharged inter cooler power plant has the capacity of delivering a maximum power of 99bhp and a peak torque output of 190Nm. Moreover, the common rail based direct injection fuel supply system in the vehicle makes room for decent mileage. This maxi van is mated with a five speed manual transmission gear box.

Braking and Suspension

The braking and suspension system are pretty good in this vehicle. It comes with vacuum assisted hydraulic service brakes type. It has disc brakes with Twin pot caliper and drum brakes with LSPV as front and rear brakes. It has manual transmission and 2015 dia friction clutch. The suspension is also good and it has McPherson Strut front suspension and parabolic leaf spring as rear suspension.

Verdict

The car market in India offers the option to carry a maximum of eight persons in a car but if you wanted to ferry more, there are hardly any options. The Winger van from Tata is an option that will let you transport about ten people at a time without having to squeeze. And it can also be registered as a private car. The Tata conglomerate has been synonymous with the industrial revolution in India and their foray in automobiles started with commercial vehicles. In terms of competition, there is hardly anything of this size except for maybe the Force Cruiser that transports half a village at a time over the countryside.
