Vehicle Fancy Number in Tripura

The “Tripura Motor Vehicle (3rd Amendment) Rules, 2014” shall be effective from 1st September next. Recently, the state cabinet had approved the 3rd amendment of “Tripura Motor Vehicles Rule, 1991” said sources.

After the approval fees for dealer license, sub – dealer license,issue and withdrawal of NOC for registration of motor vehicles have been revised. From 1st September motor vehicles owner have to pay the revised rates.

Besides for any kind of alteration of vehicles, the cabinet approved the fee structures for all kind of motor vehicles. The fee structures for temporary registration and fittings of audio and video has also been amended. After the amendment of rules transport department got the formal go – ahead for issuing notification to begin with e- auctioning of fancy number plates for the first time in the state.

The source said that if fancy or chose number is chosen by the applicant is within 1000 of the running number the fees of for such fancy number will be Rs 2000 and fees for chosen number above every 1000 registration number will be Rs 1000 extra in addition to Rs 2000.However state government vehicles are exempted from payment of such fees.

After the fees enhancement transport department will earn additional Rs 3 crore approximately. In last fiscal year the department earned Rs 38 crore.

Fees for Fancy Registration Mark / Choice Numbers thereof shall be levied at the following rates.

1) If the fancy number chosen by the applicant is within 1000 of running number the fees for such fancy number will be Rs.2,000/- for each fancy number.

2) Fees for every 1000 above the 1000 running registration number will be Rs.1,000/- extra.

3) The above provision shall not apply in respect of State Government vehicles.
