Review on KTM RC 200

For the first time, India is bound to receive the sports bike in the name of RC 200 by the KTM at the price tag of Rs 1.6 lakhs. The bike is worth of cost in terms ofperformance and smooth handling. Let’s see how far it is true.

ERGONOMICS:

RC 200 is the faired version of the most successful KTM Duke 200.The feature that sets the KTM 200 ahead of Duke 200,includes twin headlamps, new fuel tank and tail section, fairing integrated underbelly exhaust and mirror mounted turn indicators.Further the RC 200 underpins the base Duke 200 in terms of ergonomics thus getting WP telescopic upside down front fork suspension, monoshock rear suspension, powder-coated tubular space frame made from steel tubes. There is space being provided thus avoiding the woes that there is only one riding position any you won’t face any trouble while leaning towards one side.

ENGINE & PERFORMACE:

RC200 will be powered up by the 199.5 cc single-cylinder four stroke engine that will produce up to 25 bhp of power that is best-in-class and torque of 19.2Nm.This engine gets mated to the six-speed gearbox.Though the engine remains to be the same as that of RC390,the performance is better than its sibling. The smoothness and progress is felt while riding in the test-drive.While winding around the mountains,RC 200 is more enjoyable to ride due to the seamless and lineant power delivery. On the other hand, the bike will go at the top-speed of 55-60km/l without stumbling while trundling through town, that can’t be felt in case of RC390.On the flip side ,it is easy to lean from one side to the other side with the smoother engine.

RIDE& HANDLING:

When compared to that of RC 390,RC 200 is more aggressive in ergonomics and suspension set-up. However in the altar of performance, certain comforts have been sacrificed. This statement implies that the ABS is not provided as an offer in India. Offering the powerful bike at low cost is not at any cost in reduction of performance.Similar to that of RC390,RC200 too gets the changes in the chassis and the suspension-setup.Though it is 8kg heavier than Duke 200,it is easy to handle at the turns. The expensive and grippier MRF tyres that is 10 kg lighter than RC 390,also contribute its part in riding dynamics. With the tighter steering angle, one can easily get through the nook and corners with a greater confident.Since the power is less the power spread help us to feel smoother and one can have a faster ride with a companion at the back on RC200 that is not so easy in case of RC 390.

VERDICT:

KTM RC 200 has its own subtle of gleam with the smoothness of the power and amazing chassis. It will be the best option for those novices who want to learn a ride on faster motorcycle.
