Mahindra announces massic price cut on logan

After taking over logan from Renault, Mahindra today announced drastic price cut on logan. The price of the logan is cut by 24,000 to 80,000 rupees depending on the variants. The price of the logan variant comes down Rs 6.4 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh. The new Logan prices effective from April 26

Yet another feat by Maruti

Maruti Suzuki is in the news again but this time with the achievement of 3 lakh units of K-series engine. The engine is fitted in the robust models – Swift [images], Swift Dzire [images], Ritz [images] and A-Star [images]. Maruti boasts this achievement made in the time span of just 19 monhts since the introduction of the engine. The official of the company said that the success rate of K-series engine will take the significance to the elevated level to make Maruti retain its supremacy in the automobile sector. Maruti is to phase this engine to other cars in the next three to five years. Maruti enjoys 50% of the market in India with the sale in last month reaching 765526 units of 1526787 units of net passenger cars sold in India.(Maruti launches upgrade Swift and Swift Dzire)

K-series engine comes in two variants – 998cc three cylinder called K 10B is fitted in A-Star, Estilo and the refined WagonR. Another one is 1.2 lit 4-cylinder called K12M petrol found in Ritz, Swift and Swift Dzire. Maruti has the engine variety, other than this K-series, like F Series found in M800 [images] and Alto [images]; G-series fitted in MUVan Eeco[images]; M series fitted for SX4 mid size sedan. K-series engines constitute nearly 25% of the total 10 lakh units made in a year by Maruti Suzuki India.

The recent feat by the engineers of Maruti in reaching 1600 engines per day gave hope for further increase. The investment of about Rs1500 crore for doubling the capacity at Gurgaon facility enables production of 5 lakh annual units in addition to R&D centre at Rohtak. There will be additional investment of Rs1665 crore for increased production capacity of vehicles to 1.25 million in another two years. The current capacity is 1 million units with the addition of the new Manesar facility.

Tata Nano gets the sibling of Diesel

Unconfirmed reports galore over the test drive of Tata Nano [images] Diesel. The occasion is linked to the announcement made in the Auto Expo about the possible launch of diesel version. The diesel version may find the partner in Bosch to retain the low cost factor. The unclear facsimiles of the car portray the diesel engine being placed at the rear still below the position of petrol engine found in the current models. Having given the speculation true, then the engine will come in the range of 600-700cc delivering 30bhp of peak power yet with higher torque than that of petrol. Given the expansion of facility in Sanand, it is certain that the diesel version may roll down by this year end.

The Honeymoon between M&M and Renault is over, but flirtation goes on

The Indian truck company Mahindra&Mahindra has departed its journey with Renault paving way for whole amalgamation. The departing deal will make M&M to buy the share of 49% owned by Renault. The deal will in no way be a constraint for M&M to avail the platform of Logan from Renault. The President of M&M for automotive and equipment sector said the negotiations are under process to secure the rights from Renault for continuing with Logan platform on royalty basis.(Renault-M&M pact over Logan cemented)

This concept may be continued for any other car springing off from the Logan [images] platform- Sandero (hatchback) Logan MCV (Multi-Convivial Vehicle) and Duster (SUV). However, Renault is not in a hurry to let its right go for M&M and the options are there for more partners for passenger cars, said the Chief Operating Officer for Renault. The new set up will require M&M to be the sole venture to pay manufacturing contract fee to MRPL vice versa.
Post- deal, M&M will bring out the refined Logan in a time span of two years, with increased localization from the current 60%. M&M will definitely modify the Logan to suit the norm fixed by the government for availing excise duty relaxation. Cars with the length of 4 metres in the 1.2 lit petrol version are eligible for this duty relaxation. Further refinement will include engineering operations, R&D with the technical know-how from Renault. With the individual venture of bringing in Logan, M&M is optimistic about successful run of this car in the domestic market. M&M will coordinate sales, dealerships, purchasing of components and manufacturing single handedly which will procure cost efficiency and product efficiency.(M&M may slam brakes on investments in Renault JV)

Maruti on the verge of enhanced volume of engine

Suzuki Motor is in the bid of increasing the net output of engines- 30%- to make the toll to 1.25 million + units per year. The new engines will be devised on low pollution set up and will incur an investment of 10 billion yen so that the annual yield will cross 3 lakh units from the New Delhi facility. The facility will concentrate on K-series low-emission engines, compatible for small cars having 1- 1.2 lit engine capacity. This increase will make the net production of engines in India to 800000 per year meeting the emission norms stipulated by the government.( Maruti tastes the success of K series engines )

Hit the ride with Harley Davidson bikes

The day for dating the mate has at last come- bookings commenced for Harley-Davidson bikes in India. There will be 12 models to choose from five brands – Sportser, Dyna, Softail, V-Rod, CVO and Toruing. The bikes are to be routed through five dealers spread over Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh and Hyderabad. The Bangalore dealer, Tusker Harley Davidson [images] is commencing the booking from 20 April backed up by a thumping enquiries for the bike, said the owner of the dealer. However, the customers have to wait till July or August to really ride the envious bike since then the dealer showroom would be ready. The bookers, on the other hand, have the occasion of test ride sometime in the third week of May. The dealer anticipates a thronging response to the bikes and there will be lot of constraints due to limited supply to India. The allotment will be on the first come first served basis, said the dealer.

Tata Motors launches Magic Iris

Tata Motors has launched Magic Iris! Yes, that’s what the dealer says. The much awaited seems to be launched in some parts of India. Morani Fourwheels – Rajasthan dealer of Tata Motors claims so. Magic Iris BSIII is priced at Rs1,98,000. On the road Magic iris costs Rs2,11,900. The dealer says that the Magic Iris can be bought within two days of booking. The 611cc magic Iris is believed to Tata’s answers to auto-rickshaws of Bajaj and Piaggio.

Bookings commenced for 12 models of Harley-Davidson

The US company Harley-Davidson [images] entered into the Indian market some nine months ago and now has formally commenced the bookings for its 12 models. The deliveries of these heavy weight engine bikes will be made in June, the company claimed. There are four models in sportster range, two models each from Dyna, Touring and Softail including Fat Boy and V-Rod along with CVO ranges. The bikes are priced in the range of Rs6.95 lakhs to Rs34.95 lakhs. The company’s gusto remains to be shown in the reality of the conversion of bookings. As of date, the company claims, there are 1000 registration for these models and exact buying is to be seen soon. The bookies will be offered the test drive at the dealer showrooms in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chandigarh.
