Mahindra Reva to launch e2o on March 18

mahindra-e2oMahindra Reva, Part of Mahindra Group has announced that it will launch of the replacement of Reva electric car – Mahindra E2O on 18th March 2013 .   e20 was earlier showcased at the Auto Expo as the Reva NX-R.  e2o will be produced at Mahindra Reva’s recently inaugurated production facility at Bengaluru, which has a manufacturing capacity of 30,000 cars/ year.

The e2o will be manufactured at Mahindra’s new plant in Bangalore. This plant, according to the company, has a rated annual production capacity of 30,000 cars. The company said e20 will use next generation Lithium Ion batteries and “will have a range of 100 kms on a full charge, which is suitable for most urban commuters today”. The price of the car is yet to be announced, but we guess that the price will be in the range of Rs. 6 Lakh.

Honda launches facelifted accord

Honda has launched facelifted variant of accord. On the exterior, the new Chrome accentuated front grille, rear chrome garnish and new front bumper adds to the charm of the Accord. The Sunroof now comes as standard across the Accord range which gives the car an impressive panoramic feeling making it look brighter and larger. Addition of Steering mounted cruise control system helps one to cruise at the desired speed to ensure comfort and convenience for the customer with one-touch operation and ORVM with turn indicators makes it more stylish and enhances the looks of the car. The inside wooden panel makes it look even more exquisite. The Accord now comes with an advanced improved audio system for improved usability & readability and Jackknife key have also been added to the Accord. Honda Accord is equipped with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) to assist the driver in maintaining control during cornering, acceleration and sudden maneuvers by applying braking to the right or left hand wheels as necessary and modulating the engine torque output as required.

Volkswagen to launch new passat in India

Volkswagen India will launch the new passat in Indian market by March 29th. The 7th generation passat will replace the existing passat. The new passat features the same platform as the existing car but lengthier by 4mm. However the other dimensions remains the change. The new passat is unlikely to be an all new car but more like facelifted variant. The new passat reminds the styling the existing passat except minor changes in headlamps and front grille.

Engines on offer includes the 2.0L diesel  producing 170bhp and 1.8 petrol engine with manual and DSG transmission. Features list of new passat will be longer as the existing passat. We expect the pricing to be little higher than the existing variant,

Ford to replace ikon with fiesta classic

Ford India’s iconic driving machine ikon finally bids adieu to indian customer. Ford india has decided to phase out the ikon from February 01st. Ford has already stopped selling in metro cities or BSIV markets last year. “We will be discontinuing the Ikon. We need to reduce the number of products in our production facility to allow for new products to be launched. The first of our eight new products will be unveiled later this year.” said Michael Boneham, MD, Ford India.

We already reported to you, ford will strip down the existing fiesta and place it in a lower segment (where ikon was placed). Ford will also rechristen the current fiesta as fiesta classic. Fiesta classic will take on the likes of Maruti dzire, Toyota etios and Tata manza. Ford will bring the next generation fiesta soon and will be priced in the Rs8-Rs9 lakh price band. However Ford assures ikon customers the support for service and spare parts.

Ford to launch Ecosport in India

Following the success of Figo, Ford plans to launch mini SUV based on the same platform. The mini SUV which ford plans is said to be reworked model of global product ecosport. Ecosport is currently sold in brazil and mexico. However the indian verson might be different. As Ford worked on the previous generation fiesta to make india specific figo, ecosport might be re-engineered.

When is the ecosport launch?

Ford Ecosport will hit the market by end 2012. Like the figo, ecosport may be shown in advance (probably in 2012 auto expo) but the launch may happen only by end 2012.  Ford has already finalised next generation fiesta launch in 2011

How much ecosport will cost?

Similar to figo, we can expect an aggressive price tag for ecosport as well. Ford is the king of diesel engine, it is no wonder ecosport may also get the 1.4L TDCi engine. Ecosport may take on the likes of Mahindra Xylo and Tata Sumo Grande. Ford ecosport is expected to be priced around Rs7 to Rs8lakhs

Tata Motors Indigo Manza Elan

Tata motors today launched a new variant of indigo manza called manza elan. Tata Manza elan becomes the new top end variant of Manza series.Tata Manza Elan ,comes with a host of premium features like dual tone alloy wheels, burgundy and beige interiors, chrome garnished bottom weather strip, fog lamps and an all new premium and exclusive Tyrian wine colour. Tata Manza series has been priced at Rs 5.14 lakh for the Safire petrol range and Rs 5.91 lakh for the Quadrajet diesel range (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Kizashi price list

Maruti Suzuki  today launched its most expensive sedan kizashi in India. The imposing front grille, compact and sleek exteriors coupled with exclusive interiors makes Kizashi stand tall among competing brands. Chevrolet launches Beat LPG

Chevrolet has launched the LPG variant of beat. Like the spark, Beat also comes with sequential LPG kit. Beat also comes with next generation smartech engine. Chevrolet claims Beat LPG returns a mileage of 13.29kmpl. In addition, chevrolet claims the beat lpg has the following advantages  * Less weight
* No power loss
* No jerks and backfires which means smoother hassle-free transition from petrol to LPG and back.
* Better routing control and no kinking.
* No chance of inside/outside corrosion for life.
* The beat LPG kit is intelligently placed in the engine compartment, hence consuming lesser space and giving enough room for the passengers.
* The cabin space is not affected due to beat LPG kit and hence passengers can enjoy the same space as Beat petrol.

In addition to all above Beat LPG is first LPG vehicle in India to use High Pressure LPG pipes made of High Strength Nylon.

Mahindra launches Genio in India

Mahindra today announced the launch of Genio – pick-up variant of Xylo. The Genio pick-up is priced at Rs 4.99 lakh for the BS-III variant (ex-showroom Navi Mumbai). 1.2 tonne pickup will also be powered by the same mDi CRDe motor from the Xylo D2, but in a detuned state. The motor now produces 75bhp, 20bhp less than the Xylo D2, while the max torque remains identical at 22kgm.

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment Sectors, M&M said, “The Genio is a result of extensive consumer insight which captured the latent and expressed needs of the customer. The Genio is an ideal vehicle for businessmen, traders and SMEs. I am confident that it would be a game changer for the pickup segment in times to come.”

Mahindra already has its Bolero pick-up doing duty in the segment, which the manufacturer dominates with 75 percent market share. The segment has seen a growth of 5 percent in the pervious year and is expected to grow in double digits this year. The underperforming segment which had seen no new launches for the last four years – the most recent being the Bolero pick-up – needed fresh products to help it grow. The newly launched Genio will now directly compete with the Tata 207 Di.

The Genio is available in BS-IV variant as well which will be around Rs 15000-18000 dearer than the BS-III version. Offered in four attractive colour options – Silver Shine, Diamond White, Marvel Granite and Skyline Blue, the Genio will be available across 70 dealerships at the time of the launch.
