Aprilia to launch RSV4 and Piaggio to launch Vespa LX125
In few months from now, another manufacturer will enter the indian two wheeler market. Aprilia part of piaggio group will roll out its superbike RSV4 in India. RSV4 1000cc engine would be the first offering by Aprilia in india which will be followed by lower displacement bikes like RS and RX. “The easiest way to introduce the Aprilia brand here is to start with sporty and even naked bikes. The next product could be a 125cc bike. We can develop these specifically for India or launch existing models such as the RS, SX and RX at a competitive price,” said Mr Umberto Basso, Aprilia Category Manager, 2 wheeler Product Marketing, Piaggio & C spa. Aprilia RSV4 is expected to be priced around Rs15 lakhs.
Piaggio has almost finalised its plans to launch vespa range of scooters. Piaggio will first launch the well-known Vespa LX-125 scooter in India. Piaggio plans to set-up 80 showrooms across india to sell vespa scooters. Piaggio will enter the indian market in 2012

Honda Siel Cars India introduces Civic with Sunroof
Honda Siel Cars India, leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, today launched the new Honda Civic with sunroof in presence of renowned Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh along with Mr. Tatsuya Natsume, Director, Marketing, HSCI and Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Vice President , Marketing, HSCI.
The introduction of sunroof gives the car an impressive panoramic feeling making it look brighter and larger. The Sunroof was found to be the most desirable feature in the Civic based on the customer’s feedback.
Honda Civic will have a new color Urban Titanium along with the existing colors available in the range.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tatsuya Natsume, Director, Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India Ltd. said, “We are delighted to introduce the new Civic with sunroof which further augments the style quotient of the car and make it even more desirable. Maruti kizashi to take on Skoda Laura and Honda Accord
Maruti will formally launch its Kizashi sedan on February 02nd. Maruti will import the kizashi as a CBU from japan and set to take on Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda laura and Honda Accord. The pricing of kizashi is likely to be between Rs14 – Rs18 lakhs. Kizashi will come in both manual and automatic transmission. Powered with 2.4L petrol engine this would be fastest Maruti ever launched.
“This (Kizashi) is our attempt to be future ready, as we believe the A4 and A5 segment (luxury) is going to grow. It is small at the moment but the way the economy is growing, this segment is going to be big,” Maruti Suzuki India Managing Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) Mayank Pareek told. There are nine million Maruti Suzuki customers at present. Many of them want to move up and have been asking after the SX4, what next? What we are doing here is to provide them options in luxury segment,” Pareek added.
Nissan plans two more small cars
Following the success of Micra, Nissan plans two more small cars for indian market. Autocar India reports Nissan plans to add two more small cars to its portfolio to take on the mighty maruti. Nissan’s first small car codenamed K2 will be based on Nissan’s K11 platform (generation old Micra platform). This would be a surprising move as every other car maker moves forward. Nissan plans to save cost by building a car on older K11 platform. Nissan’s K2 would be position below Micra to take on the likes of Maruti Wagon-R, Estilo, A-star and chevrolet beat.
Another small car would be I2 which would sit below K2 to take on the likes of Maruti Alto, Chevrolet Spark and Hyundai Santro. Nissan – Ashok leyland would jointly produce this product which will be launched sometime in 2013. Nissan k2 might come to light by 2012 Delhi Auto expo. Remember, Nissan- Renault – Bajaj small car project still hangs in balance as each partner moves in their direction
Hero to launch 3 wheelers
Hero which is going the final agreement with Honda plans to use the existing powertrains in a different manner. Post the divorce from Honda, Hero is free to export the products to other countries and venture into other segments. Hero group plans to move into 3-wheeler space following Bajaj and TVS. Hero group plans to use its existing engines (left alone powertrains from Honda). “Under the proposed new arrangement, several opportunities may exist in terms of new segments and product categories, but currently there is no such plan on the anvil,” the Hero Honda spokesperson said.
Hero may export its existing two wheelers and three wheelers to countries like Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Africa.
