Hero Honda plans to cheer up the Karizma with the new white colour scheme. Hero Honda karizma once a popular performance bike is now relying only on its brand power to sell itself. The launch of Pulsar 220,Yamaha R15 and Honda CBR250R has already taken away customers of karizma. However, Hero Honda continues to superficial upgrades now and then. Now the karizma has got an unique white colour scheme. We wish this is the last cosmetic job for our much loved karizma and next would be a spinal surgery by heroe honda.

Maruti to launch new 800

India’s No.1 car maker Maruti is now secretly working on the replacement of 800 which will be based on the platform of the existing Alto.The new 800 will be slightly spacious than its predecessor.It is also expected to have all-new interiors.

Maruti equips the new 800 with the same 796cc three-cylinder motor known as F8D that powers the Alto.But the motor has been slightly modified in the new 800 in order to meet the latest emission norms. Maruti is planning to launch the new 800 at a price tag of Rs.2 lakhs.

Toyota to launch Fortuner facelift

Toyota has launched a refreshed version of its SUV Fortuner for the Thailand market.In India,Toyota plans to launch the same in early 2012.Toyota has given the new Fortuner Facelift with many new features.It is powered by a 3.0-litre common-rail diesel motor that churns out a power of 169bhp.Toyota has developed a latest “Diamond Tech” system in the new Fortuner to improve its fuel efficiency.

LML to launch Freedom and Star in India

LML,the two-wheeler maker plans to re-enter the Indian market by introducing four new models within this financial year.Among the four,India’s first 200cc geared scooter will be launched first by LML.It will be followed by a 125cc gearless scooter.LML also plans to bring back its Freedom brand of motorbikes by launching mass-market-targeted 100cc and 125cc models by this year end.

Mr.P.S.Chowdhury,Head,Sales and Marketing at LML told that they took a sabbatical for a few years after running into some trouble in 2006.They restarted exports subsequently and are now coming out with four new products in the country.For this,they have their own in-house design and technology.

He said the 200cc model has already been launched as a variant in the Star range for the export market.At home, this will be a lifestyle product for a niche market — a multi-utility two-wheeler for those looking for more lugging power. They are also looking to bring back the Freedom brand by year-end.

Mr.Abdul Majeed,Auto Practice Leader at PwC informed that LML will have tough competition.He said the market is growing, so their success depends on what products they bring in to bounce back. They have the experience, but it is not going to be easy as much has changed in the last few years.He added that they will have to compete with the best-in-class products from players such as Honda,Yamaha and Suzuki.

Honda keeps customers waiting for Activa, Unicorn and Dazzler

Due to the huge demand and supply straint of CB Unicorn motorbike,Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India has increased its waiting period from one month to six months.It has been confirmed by a senior company official.The official said that they have not stopped production.It is well on course.It should be available in six months.

He also informed that besides the Unicorn, the company’s popular selling scooterette Activa comes with a waiting period of four to five months for specific colours like white, gold and metallic silver. However, basic colours like red and black have a waiting period of one to two months.

HMSI recently inaugurated a new facility at Tapukara in Rajasthan in order to increase the productivity and to address the long waiting periods.The new plant has an annual capacity of 12 lakh units and the company plans to invest around Rs.800 crores on the plant.

The official revealed that the Unicorn bike fitted with mono-shock suspension, a first of-its-kind in India, has become one of the most sought after two-wheelers in India.HMSCI has featured the new “CB Unicorn” with a BS III engine, large logos and electric-start option.Similarly,the CB Unicorn Dazzler is equipped with double disc brakes and mono-shock absorbers and has a waiting period of three to four months.

The Unicorn Dazzler in Red and Black colours are delivered after 30 days but for Metallic Grey and Gold colours,the customers need to wait for three months.

Ford Fiesta price list

Ford has launched the new fiesta in India.  Fiesta petrol is priced Rs8.93 lakhs an Rs10.4 lakhs for top end diesel. The All-New Fiesta is available in four premium trims, across eight variants – Style, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Plus, with both petrol and diesel powertrain options in manual transmission. The 1.5 L Ti-VCT Style is priced at Rs. 823,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the 1.5 L Duratorq TDCi Titanium Plus at Rs. 10,42,200 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Ford India is offering Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), airbags and steering wheel audio controls as standard features among others, across all eight variants in both petrol and diesel options.

Royal Enfield plans for a new plant near Chennai

Royal Enfield,the two-wheeler division of Eicher Motors plans to set up a new manufacturing plant at Oragadam near Chennai by 2013.This plan has been declared yesterday by Eicher Motors.The upcoming plant of Royal Enfield will have an initial production capacity of 1.5 lakh units annually.

Siddhartha Lal,Managing Director and CEO of Eicher Motors revealed that they have received the letter for the land from the state government.They will start construction immediately after getting the possession.They should be ready with the plant by the first quarter of 2013.He said that with addition of new capacities, they will be able to reduce the waiting periods of their bikes which is currently about 6-8 months.

Regarding investment details he said that they will have to take approvals from the board at first before telling any number.He further informed that their long-term strategy is to invest for the next five years under a mega project on the same site.On product development, Lal said that they are constantly working on new products and will introduce two new products in 2012-13.There will be no new bikes in this year.

The latest venture from the company will ensure 900 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
