GM has launched the much awaited beat diesel finally. We all know that beat diesel is due ever since GM launched the petrol variant of beat. While the GM – Fiat partnered and developed the award winning 1.3 multijet diesel which powers dozens of cars in India alone, GM has developed this tiny engine on its own. Can the diesel engine make the beat diesel a mighty competitor to stand against the likes of Figo diesel and swift diesel.

Mahindra Bolero Facelift Spy Pictures

Mahindra plans for a facelift version of its MUV Bolero and its spy pictures have been caught at Mahindra’s facility at Haridwar.From the images,it seems that Mahindra will add a new variant for Bolero named the ZLX.It will get the same 75bhp Low-Cost-Common-Rail (LCCR) engine from the recently introduced Scorpio EX.

The updated Bolero holds the following changes in its exterior features:

  • A slightly revised grill with a darker grey shade to offer a prominent look
  • All-new front bumper
  • A rear-wiper with a defroster to meet future CMVR
  • No fog lamps and alloy wheels

The new Bolero facelift features major changes in its interiors which are as follows:

  • New beige coloured plastics
  • All-new digital instrument console with an LED display
  • All-new leather-wrapped steering wheel with aluminium inserts
  • Centre console holding wood trims

However the quality of the plastic seems to be poor as same as its predecessor.

Honda to decrease the price of Jazz by 1.75 lakhs

Honda,the Japanese car maker has decided to reduce the price of its premium hatchback Jazz by Rs.1.75 lakhs in India.This move by Honda Motors is to boost the sales of the car in the Indian Market.Recently in last month it has slashed the price of Honda City in India by Rs.66,000.

Regarding this,HSCIL spokesman reported that they are not giving any discount. Discounts are offered at the dealer level depending upon the models and the variants of the car.He added that the maximum discount goes up to Rs.1.75 lakhs.

The original ex-showroom price of Honda Jazz in Delhi ranges from Rs.7.13 lakhs to Rs.7.48 lakhs.But hereafter it will be sold at a cost of Rs.1.75 lakhs less than the original price.

The company also plans to launch its much awaited small hatchback – Honda Brio in India in the month of October.It is expected at a price of Rs.5 lakhs.

Skoda’s upcoming cars in India

Skoda,the Czech carmaker plans to introduce all-new range of models in India which includes Skoda Rapid,Yeti,Laura RS and the next-gen Octavia.Skoda is also seeking for the introduction of a hatchback at the cost of Rs.4 lakhs and a sub-four-metre saloon based on the platform of Volkswagen Up.Skoda’s Laura will be launched next month and the Octavia to be unveiled next year.

Hyosung to launch GT250R in India

Pune-based Garware Motors plans to launch three new models of Hyosung bikes by the end of next year with a lower engine capacity.One among the three is the Hyosung GT250R which is a 249cc motorcycle featuring V-twin engine.It offers a mileage of 29.4kmpl.It has a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres.It is expected at a price tag of Rs.2.25 to 3 lakhs.

Maruti to bring new version of Swift

Maruti plans to launch the new Swift in later August or early September.For this launching,Maruti has stopped the production of its currently existing premium hatchback Swift.The codename of the new Swift is YP8.


The new third generation Swift is slightly larger than the present one and features a light and stiff bodyshell.It holds an improved design,safety,fuel consumption and CO2 emission.The new Swift will feature the new generation KB series petrol engine and multijet diesel engine.

The diesel variant of the new swift develops 75PS of peak power at 4000rpm and 190Nm of peak torque.It may be priced higher than the existing Swift which is priced between Rs 3.9-5.5 lakhs in India.

Fiat India plans to launch a new small car

Fiat,the Italian auto maker stated that it is evaluating options to bring a new model in India through the completely built unit route.It is also planning for a small car to hit the Indian market in 2012.The small car could be similar or smaller than its existing hatchback,Palio.It would be produced at its plant in Ranjangaon at Maharashtra.

Mr.Rajeev Kapoor,President and CEO of Fiat India reported that there are different routes and opportunity to launch a model in India and the completely built unit route is one of them.He said every route is open to them and they are still evaluating.

He added that the small car is under development.They had announced earlier that their intention is to launch it in 2012.The exact timing and details will be shared when they will be ready with the product.

Fiat India has restructured its board by replacing two directors.Regarding this,Kapoor commented that this is a very routine restructuring of the board and there is nothing serious about it.

M&M launches double cabin pick-up ‘Genio’

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the two cabin pick up named the Genio for the workers in its infrastructure and construction space to travel with their and machinery.The new Genio features two passenger rows and a cargo space.Genio’s earlier version was a single cabin pick up which could accord the driver, a co-passenger and their cargo.

Vivek Nayer, Senior VP, Marketing for M&M’s automotive division quoted that double cabin pick up are hugely popular in Thailand and Europe and judging by the growth in the retail and infrastructure industry here,they know this will be a ready market in India.Nayer said that although this will be an international class product compared to the Bolero there will be takers for both varieties.

The base variant of the new Genio comes with a price of Rs.5.46 lakhs and its higher variant is priced at an amount of Rs.5.95 lakhs.
