Maruti Suzuki’s swift and Desire for making a wagon of Altogether Indian is under process and will roll on in another three years. The apex body Suzuki is understood to have divested its R&D at Rohtak unit- for test track of new vehicles and enhance R&D at Gurgaon unit. This is viewed as a major step towards attaining the vision to reach out of Japan.

So far, engineers at Maruti do the jobs related to rear, front and interior patterns of certain models. But this is the first time for it to make a whole car purely on the Indian concept and environment. From the marketing experience, Maruti’s Indian pattern will have rear seat comfort (enabling the passengers) unlike Japan or Europe, where the driver will be focused on comfort and joy.

Next focus will be on suspension especially at speed breakers and AC, which is of special need for promoting the car. The car will be earmarked for the Indian market initially with testing alone in Japan. Sooner it will be marketed in Asia with the time bound approach. The time frame is to be adjusted along with other models too which may need redefining. In near future, the portfolio of Maruti will consist of international ranges and Indian brands. Since the launch of Maruti 800 in the 1980s, Zen was destined to suit the Indian environment in 2003 while other models underwent minor modifications from the Maruti engineers- like Esteem and Wagon R offering fuel option.

The engineers at Maruti raised to the global standard by involving in the patterning of Swift, SX4 and A-Star. All these technical expertise will pay the dividends to the new India-made car. To meet these demands, the manpower of engineers is to be increased to 1000 from 700+. By this motif the company intends to balance the fresh horizon and veterans to meet the challenges posed by GM, Ford and Chrysler. In the process, Maruti had booked services of Indian engineers belonging to the Detroit in addition to a professional motivator for counseling young engineers.
