Maruti to launch Ritz

Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch its new car Splash as Ritz very shortly in India. Maruti Suzuki, the Indian subsidiary of the global auto maker, is trying to find out if any rival company has already registered the name. Ritz is likely to be launched by April 2009 and will have two engine options — a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. Both the engines of Ritz will sport a 5-speed manual gearbox and are Euro4-compliant. Ritz is a taller hatchback with enough and more extra space. The height makes the Ritz a tall boy but it’s the best tall boy hatch to have hit the Indian market yet. The rear looks rather sporty with an inward angling windscreen and side pillar tail lamps. The flared wheel arches lend the Ritz a masculine appeal. According to Suzuki, Ritz (splash) is a multipurpose vehicle that will likely appeal to those with small families and a limited budget. The pricing of the Ritz would be a little below the Swift in the range of Rs. 4-5 lakhs.
