Volkswagen is gearing up to launch the much touted Jetta sedan in India. The new Jetta will add to Volkswagen Indian product range from mid July. Jetta is produced by Volkswagen since 1979 and is very popular in western countries. The car is well known for its safety and solid nature among consumers across the world. Volkswagen which currently sells passat and Touraeg hopes to achieve a significant market share in the entry D Segment. Jetta will compete against the Civic, Corolla and Sonata Embera here. Jetta is a booted version of Volkswagen popular hatchback Golf. Similar to any other VW cars, Jetta is solid and planted on the raod like a tank. The cabin reflect luxury at any point and complements its exterior styling.Jetta will come with two engine options – 1.6L petrol and 1.9L diesel. The 1.6L petrol engine develops 102PS at 5600 rpm and 148Nm of max torque at 3800 rpm. According to Volkswagen, jetta can reach a top speed of 186 kph and can be accelerated from 0 to 100 kph in just 12.2 seconds. The 1.9L TDI is the same engine that is currently under the hood of the laura. The 1.9L cranks out 105PS of max power. The 250Nm of peak torque is available from 1900 rpm.The new jetta might come in three variants – trendline petrol, trendline diesel and comfortline diesel.The comfortline variant of diesel jetta will come with the 6 speed automatic DSG gearbox. Other variants will come with 5 speed manual transmission. All the variants of Jetta will come with a wide range of luxury features like automatic driving light control,6cd changer and leather upholseteries. Expect the jetta at around Rs13 lakhs.
