General Motors unveils e-spark and Aveo CNG

The GM Chevrolet has a blotch of long term player in Automobile arena and it again refurbishes with the launch of E-Spark and Aveo CNG. Aveo CNG will hit the market at the end of January followed by E-Spark at the end of 2010. General Motors also show cased Beat, Aveo CNG, Volt, WTCC Cruze, Camaro, e-spark, and Captiva Extreme.

Electric Spark (e-Spark)

The “e-Spark” is GM India’s bold move into the Battery Powered Electric Vehicles and will be India’s first 4 door Passenger Electric Vehicle! The e-Spark is a local initiative of GM India in collaboration with Reva Electric Car Company. This is a path breaking initiative that has the ability to re-define how automotive companies in India plan for future mobility solutions keeping the carbon footprints and environmental issues in mind. The e-Spark will be one of the leading platforms of GM India in its Drive to Green initiative.

The e-Spark is a true Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). It is going to be based on the existing Chevrolet Spark architecture and will be powered by the RECC EV powertrain. The vehicle will be equipped with a host of smart consumer friendly features.

This car will boast of smart and comfortable seating for four. The 4 doors will allow for ease of entry and exit. The e-Spark will be an “automatic drive” car owing to its unique propulsion system and will be extremely easy to drive without the hassles of using a clutch in the dense city traffic conditions. The easy drive system will be coupled with an equally informative and intelligent Driver Display System that will provide all necessary and vital signals on the dashboard, easily visible to the driver.

The Electric Drive AC Motor provides 100% torque on tap as soon as the accelerator pedal is pressed down. This leads to fantastic acceleration performance. The e-Spark will have a Regular Drive Mode and a Boost Mode that will provide power to the vehicle through a high torque AC electric motor. The Boost Mode will provide additional torque to the driver for a short duration to manage driving style and during those critical moments on the go! The e-Spark will be launched end of this year.

Aveo CNG

The Chevrolet Aveo CNG is being launched with a company backed Sequential Injection type CNG kit. Sequential Injection represents the most advanced level of evolution for what concerns the equipment of gas injection. In the sequential system the ECU calculates the opening times of the injectors for each cylinder and acts separately on each gas injector with highest precision.

The highlights of Aveo CNG are:

1. Sequential Injection kit with precise control of fuel delivery through electronic injectors ensuring efficient combustion

2. Minimal deterioration in performance in petrol mode

3. Hardened Valve seats and Anodized pistons are used in the proven 1.4L VGIS petrol engine. This ensures no engine damage or reliability issues on CNG mode.

4. Minimum service requirement owing to advanced electronic operation.

5. Reworked suspension that leaves the ride and handling unchanged after CNG kit fitment.

The customers will have an option of running the Chevrolet Aveo on CNG that will give class leading performance and fuel economy without any impact on vehicle warranty. The Chevrolet Aveo CNG also comes with a 3 years/100,000-km standard warranty, which is an industry first in the midsize sedan segment, and a service interval of 5,000 km or six months (whichever comes first). The Aveo CNG will be made available first in Delhi by end of January.

BMW launches X6M, 760Li and Grand Turismo

BMW has kicked out its new yields X6-M, 760 LI and Gran tursimo. These new giants comes with a price tag of Rs 1 crore 30 lakhs, Rs 1 crore 29 lakhs, and Rs 63 lakhs respectively.

BMW X1 CKD X1 will be assembled in Chennai and expected to smack the market at the end of 2010.

Skoda unveils Yeti and Fabia Combi

Skoda today displayed its Yeti SUV in India. Yamaha unleashes 2010 model of YZF R1 & special edition of R15

After a stream of updates for the Car enthusiasts, Finally some good updates for the Bike enthusiasts. Yamaha unleashes its 2010 model of YZF R1 and a special edition (White color) of R15 at the AutoExpo 2010 event. Yamaha will launch the R15 special edition in February in the market.

Yamaha also showcased international models including 500CC TMax Sports scooter, VMax, YZR-M1.

Honda’s Small Car Concept

Honda has also joined the Bandwagon of Concept cars. With an aim to clutch the mid -size segment Honda has divulged its new Honda Small Car Concept. Honda will launch the production version of this concept in 2011.

Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) announced the World Premiere of the Honda New Small Concept today in a press conference at the 10th Auto Expo 2010. This will be the first time when Honda has chosen India for the world premiere of a concept car. The Honda New Small Concept is a concept model of a new small-sized vehicle which Honda is currently developing especially for India and other emerging nations. With its commitment to provide technologically advanced vehicles, the Honda New Small Concept is a ‘true Honda’ – futuristic design with maximum cabin space. The ‘Efficient Energetic Exterior’ based on front-forward design lends the Honda New Small Concept an appealing dynamic presence.

Honda’s design principle ‘Man Maximum – Machine Minimum’ has defined the underlying approach in the design concept of the Honda New Small Concept. A wide platform with a stable center of gravity was adopted to create a highly efficient compact size car without compromising on the cabin space hence greater passenger comfort. Developed at Honda’s Automobile R&D Center in Japan, the Honda New Small Concept is designed to be a family car with a capacity to comfortably seat 5 adult passengers. Addressing the media during an official press conference Mr. Koichi Kondo, Executive Vice President and Representative Director, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., said, “We are delighted to unveil the Honda New Small Concept at the 10th Auto Expo. India has been the hub for the compact car segment and is also the lead country for our research and development work on the New Small Concept. The new model based on this concept will be a global car with features to suit the needs of India customers. We plan to launch this car by 2011.”

Volkswagen Polo specifications,features and variants

Volkswagen, a pioneer for traditional quality has launched an awe-inspiring new popular Volkswagen Polo with three variants.

Polo with 1.2 lit petrol engine is powered with 75 bhp @5400 rpm and provides the torque of 110nm @ 3750 rpm. Polo with 1.2 lit diesel engine is also powered with 75 bhp @ 4200 rpm and provides a maximum torque of 180 nm @2000 rpm.

The new Polo features 15 inch alloy wheels, ABS, dual air bags, CD and MP3 player with 4 speakers, height adjustable driver seat, power steering, and central locking. Polo is outfitted with unique boot opener and finally this elegant wagon will be available from March 2010.

Toyota shows Etios Sedan

Toyota known for its constant and innovative improvements on its products has also come up with one more concept. Toyota unveiled Toyota Etios Concept Sedan which would be an concept beyond excellence. A newly developed 1.5L petrol engine will power this etios based sedan. Etios sedan will hit the market before the end of 2010.
