Hyundai Showcase i10 Electric, H1 Wagon, i-mate & Genesis Coupe

Hyundai, the country’s second largest car maker and exporter has exposed its brand new variants today. Hyundai showcases i10 electric, H1 wagon, i-Mate, and Genesis Coupe in the Auto expo. Hyundai with its alternate thinking and pioneering in technology oriented vehicles introduce itself as an eco-friendly manufacturer.

i10 electric is a zero emission vehicle with an internal combustion engine and protects the environment from detrimental hazards.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Hyundai Genesis Coupe is a rear-wheel drive sports coupe. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard equipment, with an optional 5- or ZF-6 speed-automatic. The Coupe is available with two engines.

Hyundai H1 Wagon

Hyundai H1 Wagon is spacious with backrest and glides with powerful clutch and braking system. The front doors are huge and the exterior of the vehicle is good looking and one of the nice features is that both doors for rear entry slide open.

Renault to launch Fluence & Koleos in 2011

The French car maker Renault is flying with colors in the Auto expo by projecting an innovative Twizy Z.E. Concept, and showcasing Fluence, Laguna, Koleos, and Megane variants. The company has officially announced that it will launch its magnificent giants Fluence and Koleos in the second half of 2011.

Renault is gearing up to capture a market niche by resuming its investments plan in India. Fluence and Koleos will be rolled out from upcoming Chennai plant and they are equipped with both petrol and diesel engines.

Renault targets to introduce full range of small to luxury cars in India within two years from now. The company also unveiled a plan to introduce several new cars within 18-24 months and the full range in 48 months time.

Aria is the new face from Tata Motors 2

Auto Expo at Delhi had a chance to look upon a new science in Tata Motors’ Aria. The all Indian concept is in the mid range of muv and suv, suiting the Indian conditions. Once launched officially, this Aria will line up with Safari and Sumo Grande. The Chairman of Tata Group Ratan Tata recalled the period when it was a truck manufacturer and also the occasion when Indica was introduced in the same premises.
He reminded the launch of Nano in the same Expo two years ago; the line up at the Expo includes, apart from Aria, Jaguar, range of buses, a new global truck, alternate fuel vehicles and electric versions. Visitors can have the sight of Magic Iris, Venture (mpv) and Jaguar XJ. He further insisted the specifications for emission norms and he expresed the gratitude to the people for recognizing the Indian company and elevating it to the global one.

The expanding small car segment may be ruled by the giants like Maruti and Hyundai. But GM has got its own trump card that it will take up the challenge with its Beat. GM believes that its will be one among the best five selling cars in India. With the pricing to be on par with the market GM would like to boost the sale of Beat by double this year. The net total for this fiscal, according to its President, is 70000 units.
The Indian market had been the blessing in disguise for the company which saw the downfall in its apex country leading to bankruptcy. The cars which fetched hope for GM in India are Spark, Cruze, Tavera and Captiva taking the toll to 55363 cars till December 2009. Beat is likely to beat the storm of rivals –Maruti, Hyundai and Tata- that it has added features that are missing in them. It has 1.2lit petrol engine, power of 80ps to deliver 18.6km/lit and is priced Rs3.34lakhs still lesser than Hyundai i10 and Maruti A-Star and Swift.
GM’s target is 5000 units of Beat a month. The target customers are young generation – especially women, said the company’s VP. The unique feature of this Beat is that the diesel version is in the offing by the year end. Except Indica, no other car in this segment has diesel version. This is because the diesel versions are capable of changing the market trend for any car.

Audi to concentrate on India than Japan 2

By 2025, Audi would have done better business in India than in Japan-20000 units per year. A boardmember revealed that the company is fully aware of the growing potential in the Indian market. As a result, there will be more investment and expansion to boost the sale of Audi in India. However the company could fetch a sale of just 1658 units in India in 2009, against 15000 units in Japan.
To increase the sale there will be assembling of more models in India, along with the ones done in Skoda unit in Aurangabad. The MD for India said from 2010, the assembling of Q5 will be from Aurangabad plant in addition to demanding models like the series A1 –A8. The target for this year, he said, is 40% growth by selling 2300 units. In the Auto Expo the company introduced Q7, an suv(4.2lit engine) and a door sport back concept car.  At Rs37 lakhs, there will be more limited edition of A6 sedan. The company’s net investment in India is Rs210 crores.

A pompous flag off of Auto Expo

The much awaited event of the just born new year has come off –Auto Expo in New Delhi. There is no less momentum to the previous ones and the event is gracefully colored by 2100 participants drawn from 30 counties. The organizers of the event, SIAM and CII expressed the hope that nearly two million visitors may throng the venue during the week, surpassing the ones at Shanghai and New York in 2009.
The highlights of the event will be 40%more visitors, 10global launches and 50 various launches covering major auto makers. The Indian auto industry accrues a turn over of Rs90000 crore and this event will be an ideal platform to analyse the strategies, said the SIAM’s President. The formal inauguration of the event will be on 6th January by the Heavy Industries Minister and Commerce Minister. The event has attracted participants from Canada, China, Finland, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Taiwan, and Britain.
The event will display all sort of vehicles – commercial, two wheelers and auto accessories. Toyota’s Etios, VW’s mini Polo, GM’s Beat, Honda’s new model are a few to quote from the significant ones. Component designs are added attraction as companies of local and global have converged. The event turns out to be a platform to muscle the companies in the potential Indian market, said ACMA President.

Marking with Polo- Volkswagen at the Auto Expo

The German car maker VW has got good plans for Indian market – Polo now and the sedan version in another six months. Polo represents German engineering and technology and stands out as the young cosmopolitan in India, said its Board member. The market share of the company is expected to increase by 8-10% given the idea that the entry into compact car segment.
Polo will be available in three versions powered by 1.2lit petrol and diesel and based on 50%localisation to be drawn out from Pune unit. The price will be on the lines of Honda Jazz, Hyundai i20 and Skoda Fabia. The sedan version of Polo will be preceded by a racing version, he said. VW has got the dealer network of 40 spread across the country.

Maruti plans to double output by 2015 to maintain dominance

Maruti is making 100% effort to retain its 50% share in the market- increasing the output to 15 lakhs by 2015. Its MD said that the projection reveals 3million mark by 2015 and Maruti would like tohave 50% of it with an average output  of 1.5million per year. The year 2010 may fetch a growth of 10%, an average annual growth so far- 7.31lakh this fiscal and 7.92 lakh units in 2008-09. In the Auto Expo Maruti unleashed its multi-purpose vehicle “rlll” and emphasized the increased capacity at of 3 lalkh units,  Manesar plant, which has 3 lakh units currently.

The future plans are to be envisaged at the board meeting of the company. The target for the fiscal is 1.3-1.4lakh units which is likely to remain in next fiscal. Maruti is all set to face the competition from the global makers. In addition, there is a small MPV designed by the R&D of the company and a possible launch of Kizashi sedans in India(already in operation in Japan) either as assembled or as imported.

Maruti has no regrets over the association of VW with Suzuki, he said. The company is well aware of less number of orders from Nissan– than the current 45000. The ultimate target for this year is one million and it is investing Rs130 crore for increasing the production capacity at Gurgaon plant, which has the capacity of 6 lakh units.
