Tata plans new ways to sell Nano
After settling the production issue with the new sanand plant, Tata plans new moves to pick-up the sales of Nano. Tata has so far sold close to 70000 Nanos so far. With an installed capacity of 2,50,000 units at sanand plant, tata needs to find out ways to sell more Nanos. The ways could be much more powerful Nanos including the diesel variant. “The entire vendor-network of 41 suppliers would be operational at Sanand by December. We expect the production of the 2,50,000 units a year plant, to provide the flexibility to offer a much wider range of cars on the Nano platform, said Mr R. Ramakrishnan, Vice-President – Commercial, Passenger Car Business Unit, Tata Motors.
Tata is also working with several banks to make the loans easier for Nano loving customers
Nissan Micra diesel price
Nissan’s diesel variant of micra small car will hit the market on December 10. Though Nissan has limited number of dealers relative to its rivals like Maruti and Hyundai, Micra is doing well in the market. However a diesel variant would give the Micra much needed punch to compete against the likes of Hyundai i20, Maruti Swift and VW polo.
Nissan Micra diesel will come in two variants – Micra XV and Micra XV premium. Diesel Micra XV is priced Rs5.6lakhs and diesel Micra XV premium is priced Rs6.2lakhs.
Incentives for electric vehicles
Finally a breather for electric vehicles in India. Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has announced massive incentives for electric vehicles. Customers can now buy electric vehicles at lower rates. As per this scheme the manufacturers of Electric Vehicles will receive financial incentive for each Electric Vehicle sold in India. The scheme envisages incentives of up to 20% on the ex-factory prices of the vehicles, subject to a maximum limit. The cap on the incentive will be –Rs.4,000 for low speed electric two wheelers, Rs.5,000 for high speed electric two wheelers and Rs.1 lac for an electric car. For this fiscal, the government will support 20,000 units and 10,000 units of low and high speed two-wheelers respectively, while it will be 80,000 units and 20,000 units in 2011-12.
Straightfrmtheheart: This is surely a path breaking announcement. We could see more Reva’s and Yo bykes in India. But is it a green measure? definitely is a subject of debate. India generates most of its electricity through coal plant (nuclear, tidal, wind being others). To produce 1MW of electricity it emits 0.84tonne of Co2. The move might put a burden on already starved Indian power corporations and might pass the buck to electricity generating power units from automotive industry. Need to think!

Toyota Etios Specifications,Features, Variants and Mileage
Toyota etios is still few days back. But here are Toyota Etios specifications, variants and mileage. We all know Etios saloon will be launched on December 01st and etios small car will be launched three months later. Toyota etios gets an 1.5L engine developing 90PS of peak power at 5600rpm and 132Nm of peak torque at 3000rpm. Under ARAI standard conditions, Toyota etios returns a mileage of 17.64kmpl. Etios with an overall length of 4265mm, 1695mm of width, 1510mm of height and 170mm of ground clearance. Etios carries the USP of typical toyota cars – space, comfort and reliability. Etios with a wheelbase 2550mm and ample luggage space of 595litres should be as spacious as Mahindra logan. Top variants Etios rides on 185/60 R15 tyres.
Toyota etios comes in four variants – J,G,V and Vx. Top end variant of Etios gets ABS,Airbags, power windows, power steering, fog lamps, rear defogger, alloy wheels, 13L cooled glovebox, central locking, integrated music system with steering mounted controls. From the specs and the design, it seems that Toyota has made conservative step with Etios. Etios looks outdated with its boxy styling, the interiors with centrally mounted instrument cluster and red trims is not ground breaking either. However an attractive price tag (expected to be between Rs5 – Rs7 lakhs) and Toyota’s reputation may kepp the showrooms busy.
