Volkswagen India today announced hefty raise in prices of polo variants. Volkswagen today said that polo prices are going up by 2.9%. We have been facing with constant rise in input cost over the past several months and have tried our best to absorb it. However, in order to continue maintaining our quality standards that our customers expect from us we have had to increase the price by a small percentage,” said Neeraj Garg, Member of board and director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd.
Though the price raise is 2.9% the total raise in actual on-road price could be around 3.3% (considering the after effect on taxes). A price raise of Rs12000-15000 is not a good news for polo lovers.
Hero Honda has announced it would raise prices of its models between Rs500 and Rs1500. “To partially off-set the rising input costs, we have increased prices of our models in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 1,500,” Hero Honda said. He further said, “We have always taken a long-term view on pricing, given its strategic nature. Hence we had consciously held back price increase on most of our products despite the rising input costs and hardening commodity prices.” The price raise will be around 500 in lower range models such as CD dawn, CD deluxe and pleasure and around Rs1500 in Hunk,Xtreme and Karizma

The sagging sales of Nano has forced Tata motors to launch the planned variants of Nano soon. Tata may quicken its launch of Nano plus and nano diesel to accelerate the sales of Nano. Tata has taken slew of measures to rake up the sales of Nano which includes extended warranty, more touch points and easy access to loan. The launch of Nano plus and Nano diesel are summit of those measures. Nano plus would come with power steering, 5-speed gearbox and more features. Nano diesel is expected to follow the Nano plus which is sure to attract many customers as diesel hatches are now only available in the B+ segment cars. With the production plant is set ready, Tata needs to do these magical steps to ensure the plant operates at full capacity
Mahindra which entered the indian motorcycle market with the launch of stallio and mojo has run into trouble. The commuter motorcycle Stallio backed by bollywood superstar Aamir khan has failed to create enthusiasm among buyers. Stallio is said to report lower sales and fails to stand against the biggies like Bajaj discover 100cc, Hero Honda Splendor and Honda Twister.
The lower sales of stallio is attributed to its premium pricing. Indian motorcycle buyers has been brand conscious and is not known to welcome any radical changes. Mahindra may have to think harder to break the mould.
