Nissan soon to launch diesel variant of Sunny

Nissan is planning for an early launch of the diesel variant of Sunny following the recent launch of Sunny’s petrol variant.This decision by Nissan was made seeing the great demand for diesel cars in India.

Gilles Normand,Corporate Vice-president at Nissan for Africa, Middle East and India informed that they have been talking to their engineers to see if they can pull forward the launch.He said that Nissan will launch the diesel variant before the end of this fiscal year.

After Micra,Sunny is the second car to be locally made in Chennai at Nissan India’s factory.It is a major competitor of Toyota Etios,Mahindra Verito and Maruti Dzire.Nissan aims to sell 40,000 cars in India by this year end.

Royal Enfield to launch Desert Storm 500 and Classic Chrome 500 on Sep 29

Due to the increased demand for its models,Royal Enfield is in a plan to launch its Desert Storm 500 and Classic Chrome 500 models in India on 29th September.Both the bikes will sport a 499cc,single cylinder UCE engine delivering a power of 27.2bhp and a peak torque of 41.3Nm.They are also to feature the UCE 500 technology which offers the bikes with a smoother and more comfortable ride to make it well suit for Indian road conditions.There won’t be so many alterations in the features of these two new variants but the most significant difference present can only be noticed in the paint jobs.

Honda launches Brio in India at Rs.3.95 lakhs

Honda,the Japanese auto giant has finally launched its much-awaited hatchback,the Brio in India at a starting price of Rs.3.95 lakhs.It is available in four trim levels namely the base variant ‘E’,the ‘S’ variant,the S(OP) variant and the top-end ‘V’ variant.

Brio comes equipped with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder SOHC engine which is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox.The SOHC motor of Brio delivers a power of 86.7bhp at 6000rpm and a torque of 11.12kgm at 4800rpm.

The base ‘E’ variant of Brio features power steering,central locking,front power windows,fuel consumption display,front and rear cup holder,beige interiors,foldable rear seat back,engine immobilizer and front chrome grille.The ‘S’ variant holds body-coloured outside mirrors and door handles,integrated audio system with USB and Aux-in,steering-mounted audio controls,chrome inserts on AC vents,gear knob and steering wheel, keyless entry and power windows.

The ‘S’ variant is also available with an optional variant named S(OP) which gets driver-side i-SRS airbag and SRS airbag for passenger, ABS with EBD, tilt steering, electrically adjustable outside rear-view mirror and front and rear mudguards.The top end ‘V’ variant sports the all above mentioned features in addition to the alloy wheels,front fog lamps and dual-tone beige interiors.

The prices of the four variants of Brio are as follows:

i)Base variant ‘E’ – Rs.3.95 lakhs

Hyundai rolls out Santa Fe Automatic

Hyundai,the Korean car manufacturer has launched a new variant of its SUV Santa Fe christened the Santa Fe Automatic.It is available as a four-wheel-drive version.The 4WD Santa Fe Automatic is priced at Rs.24.36 lakhs(ex-showroom,Delhi).

Mr.HW Park,MD & CEO of Hyundai Motor India quoted that the Santa Fe launched last year has been extremely well received, and the new offering with automatic transmission further improves their value proposition.

The new Santa Fe is powered by a 2.2-litre CRDi engine which is now coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission.The CRDi engine pumps out a power of 194bhp at 4000rpm and a maximum torque of 42.9kgm at 1800-2500rpm.The engine also features some advanced technologies which help in achieving an optimal balance between performance and drivability and also offers a combined fuel mileage of 11.72kmpl.

The car holds various active and passive safety features which include electronic stability program (EPS) and ABS with EBD to provide greater driving stability.The protection and safety of the passengers is greatly enhanced by the six standard airbags and the active headrests.

Ashok Leyland to launch passenger version of Dost

Ashok Leyland,the flagship company of Hinduja Group is planning to introduce a passenger version of its LCV Dost within one year.It will be having a seating capacity of 7-8 members.Ashok Leyland is working in joint venture with Nissan Motors to roll out the Dost.

Mr.V.Sumantran,Vice-Chairman of Hinduja Automotive Executive reported that the passenger version was in the pipeline and the joint venture was working on the design of the vehicle leveraging the combined strength of the two companies.

The company was looking at marketing the LCV in overseas markets in course of time with particular emphasis on BRIC countries.Regarding this,Sumantran said that enquiries are received from some markets and they are planning to tap three markets — two for Nissan and one for Ashok Leyland.

Dost possess a payload capacity of 1.25 tonnes and was available in three versions in which the top end model features an air-conditioned cabin,power steering and fabric seats.The company would offer ready to use vehicles on the Dost platform like refrigerated and steel containers and ambulance services.

Mahindra XUV500 – Specifications,Features and Price

M&M plans to launch its new SUV christened the XUV500 on 28th of this month.Both the two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions of XUV500 are to be unveiled together.This new global SUV is the first monocoque vehicle of Mahindra and is positioned above the Scorpio by Mahindra.

XUV500 will be powered by a transversely located 2.2-litre mHawk engine and a new transaxle which will churn out a power of around 140bhp.The company also plans for a twin turbo version in the future to increase the power range up to 170bhp.The estimated torque to be produced by the transverse engine will be around 32.6kgm.The new SUV features an all-new cable-operated gearbox with five and six-speed options.

The car holds a lot of good features which include traction control,ESP and hill descent control.It has got perfect proportions and looks and an attractive curved Mahindra grille.The high mounted,swept back headlamps of XUV500 also looks attractive.The rising beltline and tapered roof present in it offers an air of compactness.

The three variants to be launched are Base,Top and Top+ signify the kit level.The top-end model has features such as ABS, EBD, ESP and TCS.It also features Micro-hybrid technology and alloy wheels with all wheel disc brakes.Touch screen infotainment system along with a refrigerator is present in select variants.The tentative price range of XUV500 is Rs.13 lakhs to Rs.16 lakhs.

Hyundai Eon

Hyundai announces Eon

You want to know about the debut of Hyundai Eon right! Yes.  Hyundai, Korean car manufacturer plans to bring out its new compact hatchback car Eon around the festive season which will be a tough competitor to Maruti Alto and A-star. The price is expected to be in the range from Rs 3.2 to Rs 3.5 lakhs, Rs 20,000-odd below the Santro and a similar amount more than the Alto.

The exterior appearance and style of the Hyundai Eon is marvelous. Definitely buyers will be impressed with the style of the car. It borrows the front end cues from the new Verna and i10. It possess excellent headlamps and front wheelarch which enhances the visual bulk. The Eon comes with an eye-catchy taillights. The exterior measurements in terms of its length, width and height are 3495mm, 1625mm, 1535mm respectively.

The Hyundai Eon is powered by a 3-cylinder, 814cc petrol engine which resembles Santro and i10’s 1.1 litre iRDE 4-cylinder with one cylinder cut off. The engine churns out a maximum power of 56 PS@5500 RPM and maximum torque of 76.5 NM@4000 RPM. The car sports a boot space of about 211 litres and longest wheelbase.

The interior designs of the car is awesome and it is equipped with a smart combination of beige and black plastics and silver accents. The cabin holds an ample headroom but lack of leg room in the rear. The seats are very soft, comfortable and offers good lumbar and decent thigh support. It has a storage tray on the top of the dash and one litre bottle holders in the doors. The Eon comes with a stereo with aux/USB, power steering, front power windows and a driver’s airbag. But there is no ABS, no airicon etc.

The Eon boasts a 13 inch steel wheels with plastic covers and 155/70 section tyres. The ride is very flexible and it claims an ARAI-certified 21.1kmpl to the Alto K-10’s 20.2kmpl. Eon is an easy and user friendly car to drive with its excellent features, styling, interiors, adequate space and efficient engine. The Hyundai Eon will surely attracts the car enthusiasts.
