Hyundai new small car the i10

Hyundai’s new small car which will be slotted between santro and getz is likely to be named i10. The i10 will replace the atos prime (santro in india) in western markets. Hyundai is developing the car under the codename ‘pa’ and is currently testing the car in chennai. Hyundai’s i10 will be launched first in India also India will be the sole global production hub for the i10 — code named Pa. The i10 is almost and Hyundai is currently testing the car in chennai. Similar to the Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai wishes to have more than 2 cars in small car segment. To facilitate the i10 (pa) Hyundai has recently rationalised pricing for the Santro and trimmed the variants santro to two. Hyundai’s new i10 will inherit most chracters of the Santro – the most sucessful model for Hyundai.

Similar to the santro, Hyundai’s new i10(pa) will initially sport a 1.1 litre engine. Hyundai may later launch the i10 (pa) with a much powerful engine. Also in dimensions, i10 will be a ditto of santro, i10’s length(3565mm/140inches) and wheelbase(2380mm/94inches) is likely to be same as the santro. Though the Hyundai’s i10 (pa) will be only 1550mm/61inches longer(shorter than the Santro by about 40mm/1.6inches), the cabin space will remain spacious. Hyundai i10 is wider than santro by 70mm/2.8inches.

Hyundai i10 is complete new car and is styled contemporary. Similar to the Ford verve concept and new aveo U-VA(both shown in recent Frankfurt Show) i10’s low slung grille features the number plate is sure to attract to most attention. Between the two large headlamps is the Hyundai’s badge. Steeply raked windscreen and ellipsoidal glass area makes the i10 more stylish. In the rear i10 features santro type tail lamps. It seems that i10 is likely to be equipped with features like – fog lamps in the front bumper, alloy wheels and rear wiper. In the interiors too i10 might surprise everyone with more upmarket features. Similar to the popular Fiat 500, i10 will dashboard integrated center console instead of conventional floor shift pattern.

Hyundai iTen will be hit the showrooms by the end of october or early November. Hyundai’s i10 will compete with other sub-compact segment cars such as Chevrolet spark, Maruti Suzuki zen estilo, Maruti Suzuki wagonR and Tata Indica xeta. i10 is expected to priced around Rs 4lakh($10000). Hyundai will continue to sell the santro even after i10 (Pa) hits the market as santro sells 14,000 units of out of Hyundai’s total monthly sales of 18,000 units in India. Infact Hyundai plans to launch newer variants of the santro.

The ‘i’ name demystified:
Hyundai chose an alpha-numerical code that could establish a link between technology and the Hyundai brand’s core values. With the ‘i’, Hyundai chose the letter that could carry both messages. The letter ‘i’ has a long tradition as an icon for technology products. In addition, the ‘i’ is also part of Hyundai’s brand promise. In the 1990s, Hyundai changed its entire corporate focus, moving away from its original business philosophy of producing ‘good-bargain’ vehicles, to acquire a more sophisticated profile. Hyundai wanted to become more inspiring. Today, the desire to ‘inspire’ forms one of the cornerstones of the Hyundai brand. The letter ‘i’ recognises this fact and brings it direct to consumers. The i30 is the first Hyundai to carry the ‘i’ in its name. The number 30 is the numerical equivalent of the letter assigned to the i30’s segment, the European C segment. i + numerical equivalent of segment letter:

i10 = A segment
i20 = B segment
i30 = C segment
i40 = D segment
i50 = E segment

Will i10? be an another iPod/iPhone?

  6. Surely The best looking small car now(the rear end looks a bit edgy but) and interiors looking similar to much bigger cars. Next to nothing. Hope they can carry on the culture and be the first offer us some green solutions and hope this car clicks for the desperate Hyundai India.

  7. Sir, Kindly furnish Detailed features of i-10. What about its availability in Jaipur? could I expect to purchase it on Diwali? N.M.Singh

  8. Hi, This car looks stunning. Awesome interiors, great space, cool features make it a perfect midsized car. Alloy wheels would have been an added feature. Positives: 1. Interiors 2. Gear-lever’s position 3. Gear box 4. Space 5. Features 6. Seats. 7. Tubeless tires Negatives: 1. Shape 2. Price (could have been slight less) 3. Newly launched, would need some actual user-road test, hope to see few betterments in next versions. Overall, winner in all aspect .. Best of luck, Mohit

  9. Hey Guys, Had been to the Hyundai showroom in Bangalore the other day, the car is not yet available for test drive. The models on display were the Era and Magna models, but not Magna(O). The looks of the car is real good and the interiors is splendid! The dealer claims the car would give a mileage of 16kmpl that would translate to 14 i hope 🙂 Swami

  10. Hi all, I have booked the i10 after having a tough time deciding between the Santro and Wagon-R(both were aged and boring).The interiors of the car are the best in class beige with a touch of black on the dash.I got to take a small test drive before i booked it and the steering is very smooth and better then the swift i would say.but the gears seemed a little imprecise(that`s probably beacuse the way it is placed and we may need to get used to the position).The pickup was pretty impressive compared to other cars in its class.The boot is a little bigger then santro and they have released it in quiet a array of coulurs..,just like the good old zen of the 90`s. over all i`d say its the best small car money can buy as of now. ~Sunil

  11. Hi! I am also very much impressed with the interior of this i10 car,but want to know wether the seating capcity is for 5 or 4. I am thinking to take Magna Metalic version if seating capcity is for 5. Regards, Vara

  12. Hi all, I had the opportunity to test drive Hyundai’s new i10 Magna yesterday (5-Nov-o7) :-). The car looks great from outside and the interiors also looks nice too. Beige color, adjustable steering wheel, well placed gear stick are added features. The seating capacity is for 4. However, with AC on, I really struggled to ride over a hump even with 2 gear and the response is not that up to the mark. Probably it has to do with the 1.1L engine which is tuned for more mileage. 1.2L engine would have been much better. Thanks, Sri

  13. hi all, I am very much impressed with the new i 10, especially beige colour interior, that we cant expect in an entry level car,except in xeta .after all i am recent buyer of santro zing.but now planning to go for i 10 regards ajith

  14. I have seen i10 today…..interiors pretty good…..but front profile looks bulky…….1.3 engine instead of 1.1 litre engine could have improved the performance……Swift have the better contours than i10…..But i10 is winner as far as interior is concerned…..Price range should have been little lesser….I am desiding between i10 & swift…..Could any body suggest? Regards, Mobin

  17. hi, read thru your article,I am just curious about 1 thing do u think that there might be a chance that the I10 might be launched with a crdi engine(especially the one that’s used in the Getz in Europe)???

  18. Hi, Recently purchased I10, it is great, impressed with the Interiors. Would like to know i10 what it stands for………….. Regards, Madhava

  19. Hi there, I am just too crazy about cars and want to buy a car that fits my budget. I Have test Driven all the small cars below the price tag of 4.25 lakhs. Each and every car was just a step ahead or behind in it’s own family or competition. To choose a small car, we have a range of cars that can be chosen from. I chose santro Zing in the first context, but when the news came that I10 was on cards i just waited to see what it is and how it would be like. Now, after test driving i 10, i have finalised to buy this one. I am preferring i10Era as i am comfortable with the features provided in it. I suggest all the people who go in for a new car to do a extensive research and it says that for every 20 to 30 thousand you shell out, you get a better variant. Go for Maruthi 800 or a Wagon R or i10. why Maruthi 800 – Best in class vehicle for those smaller drives and “I too own a car” tag. Do not even try for a Alto, instead prefer a Santro because at the on road price of Alto at 3.35 Lakhs you can indeed shell out another 45000 for a better and versatile Santro Indica is Taxi range vehicle, you do not get the feeling owning a car but hiring one Wagon R is bit over priced for the interiors provided. Swift is an excellent car which also is bit over priced The main things that you need to observe when you are going for a test drive are the following 1. Drive preferably on a patchy road and cross speed brakers to identify the Ground clearence, reaction time of the engine, gear response and wether the pedal, clutch are in reach after proper seat adjustments, check if the length and breadth of the seat is sufficient for you to have a comfortable seating. 2. Look at the gap over your head, if you are test driving your friends vehicle, drive constantly at 80 kmph and for about one hour and watch out for any cramps in your legs. 3. While negotitaing curves at 80 kmph in any car you are test driving, find out if the vehicle is pulling you off the road in either side. Negotiate Hard with banks for the best deal. Do not hurry up to buy a car, Best of luck 2. Aesthetics need to be considered only after satisfaction during the test drive

  20. Hi!!! Took the test drive of both Santro and i10 Magna… i10 is excellent nd much better dan Santro…..both interiors nd exterior of i10 are mind blowing….bt the price is bit high dan Santro…ne wys great work by Hyundai…..Mesmerising Car…

  21. i10 contest Hyundai Motors in association with Adlabs’ radio channel, Big FM, has announced a five-city contest across the metros and Hyderabad that will allow the contestant who manages to stay in physical touch with its i10 compact car for the longest time, to take it home. ‘Chipak Ke Jeeto’ is being presented by Big 92.7 FM which will tap into its audience to increase participation, and is also promising to bring celebrities to encourage participants.

  22. I recently bought the i10. I really liked the interiors and the exteriors. The ride is also very good. The car is very silent and smooth. You can find some pics of my car on this link–

  23. The i10 looks pathetic from outside…they should have put these interiors in Santro it would have rocked.. but this one is an ugly duckling that has its eys poppoing out…yucks…. Santro even after so many years looks much better and refreshing. and for that engine i10 is heavily overpriced…but Hyundai can’t help because otherwise it would have been in competition with good old santro. They will slowly phase out Santro and then will reduce the price of i10 to Santro levels. This means they are not pricing it ethically now..and is certainly overpriced. It is being stupid to buy this at that price..stick to Santro for the better value for money or even better stick to the Wagon R – an all rounder from Japanese Suzuki.

  24. I too agree with you Juhi…the car is overpriced..but then u get good interiors…dont u? now a practical person or a rational thinker would not go for looks…but we have a population that buys car for showing off to that case let them buy this as its got a good interiors…almost best in class. I thing Hyndai should have worked out suspension for i10..its got the same bumpy ride that Santro has..making it very uncomfortable at long drives…a softer suspension should make it better. I have compared Wagon R with respect to the i10 for the suspension and the Wagon’s suspension is suprisingly soft and offers very comfortable ride quality..something that Santro or i10 just cant imagine in the back seat. so my vote too goes for practical and much better Wagon R.

  25. hello tis is vimal,i hav decided 2 buy a new car tat is hyundai i10…am so tall and my height is 6.3 feet…wil i b able to sit and drive the car..the car seems so small…so i hav a doubt…wil it b comfortable 2 me when i drive the car…forward me the details to my mail id…

  26. please i want to know how mush does iten hyundia coast by egyption liver??????????? please anser me soon

  27. hi, I just want to know how does the colour Alpine blue looks like.if possible insert a sample colour. Thanks karma.

  28. Well, had two maruti’s and had enough of it. Am actually hunting to go in for Hyundai of Tata. well have ridden Getz and pretty much happier with the gear placement and ease. With Maruti’s its always been using ur strength. What I like about Hyundai is like even if u visit website, its so well informative and creative that it gives you everything. Maruti takes people for granted

  30. When I buy a car, I don’t just buy it because it takes me from point-A to point-B. I buy it because the car makes my journey safer, faster, easier, cheaper and more comfortable. What is the point if a car can’t do that?!! The i10 is cramped- zero leg space, no room for the rear seat passenger, insufficient boot space. There is terrible road visibility for the driver, and above all pathetic mileage. Safety features are negligible!! I am regretting this purchase I made. You would think that after all of this torture, at least the after-sales service would be its redemption. But, NO. That sucks too. Has Hyundai become unnecessarily over-confident about the performance levels of its products? Or do they just plain & simple do not care about their customers because it eats into their profits? With the i10, it’s like once you have bought it, you are on your own. And guess what, it has bad resale value as well, so now I can’t even dispose of it. Yuck

  31. I am intending to buy a new small car preferably Hyundai i10.can you give the features of it average mileage,kerala trivandrum price on the road price.Is there is different type of i10 or not what are its merit and its de- merit.average usage in a mont is 1000 km

  32. A-star is the Ideal car for city runabout. A-star’s performance is unmatchable even by large sedans in highways. Who wants extra space in city cars. I’m owner of A-star for six months. You can’t go wrong with A-star..I10 is meant for ladies

  33. Maruti Suzuki AStar is a very good small hatch back car, I am driving from last one year. A very comfortable driving, A very comfortable front seat, A Very Effective -AC, A Very good mileage of 23 Km/litre without AC

  34. Hi everyone, Those of you who are over the moon about i10, have not driven any other car like Zen or are just making sure the resale value does not go down if lots of critisism is found in blogs. i10 is a big mistake i have made. It is comparable to bullock cart ride as far as suspension is concerned on indian rough roads. I had a zen 1997 which was gliding on these roads and like a stupid idiot i sold it last year and bought i10. The Hyundai Service Center says they have received many complaints on this front but they can do little! Fuel efficiency is less than 10km/l with AC in the City. My other car Honda City gives nearly 11km/l. I would recommend people stay away from this SRK promoted car (He drives a MERC). Next year i wish to go back to Maruti Stable after getting rid of this Junk.

  36. I just dont understand; if people can afford spending more on style and class then why i10. Even the base model of high end cars like i20 and some more are better featured and can boost your class. i10 is just a waste on money. Its nothing more than what Santro can give you, but if Hyundai reduces i10’s price there will be a lot of competition on Santro and i10. People may prefer Santro then. I was planning to buy i10 when my friend (owner of an i10) recommended not to go for it coz he is not happy with the overall car and it sucks on after sales. He seemed much happy with his Santro. I am changing my mind guys. Either Santro, as its worth the money you pay or a higher end car not i10 for sure.

  37. I feel one of your current ads initiated my internet browser to resize, you may well want to get that on your blacklist.
