Volkswagen to pierce the Indian market with its Phaeton in June

The German car maker VW has set in a strong demand for its compact car Polo, which has gained a waiting period of three months. This is in addition to the advance payment of Rs50000 and already there are bookings for 9000 units.

The diesel variant of Polo too has received tremendous response and both the petrol and diesel versions are looking for more potential. and the company’s Chakan plant is fuelled to increase the volume of production- 100 units a day- since there is a proposal for introducing a sedan variant of Polo [images]. Christened as Vento, its production will start from July and commercial launch would be in later this year. Also there will be the launch of Phaeton in June with the price of Rs76.3 lakhs and this will be VW’s third CBU in India along with Toureag [images] and Beetle [images]. However the company has not received any booking for Phaeton. In the meantime, the company added a dealer in Pune with the total being 43 spread in 37 cities. VW boasts of having 17 vehicles in its line up, an odd feature from any car company.
