Renault to go for Electric Vehicles by 2014

The French car company Renault is launching its electric version of vehicles before 2014. Recently the company released its Twizy, a 2-seater in India and has targeted to roll down 5lakh units of electric vehicles before 2014. The electric versions will include Fluence, the family saloon, Kangoo, uv – both will be installed in Denmark and Israel and enter into India after 4years, said its VP. The cars will be derived to India as CBUs and later will think of assembling. Twizy will first enter the European market by 2012.

The Evs from Renault will have lithium batteries as Twizy will be capable of running 100km at a single charge and Fluence and Kangoo will run for 140-160km/charge. Initial production of Evs will be 50000units in 2011 to increased to 5 lakhs by 2014. The units will be from France and Israel while the batteries will be derived from Portugal. The investment for this EVs is four billion Euro during the past 5 years.

Renault avails the tax incentives offered by the Israel government in addition to partial investment of $1.5 billion with the company. Renault is seeking similar incentives from the Indian government and state governments. For the Auto Expo, New Delhi Renault will display its compact saloon Zoe. As such, Renault has made MoUs with 30 nations and states which may be reached with India too. For EVs Renault has the blessings of local electricity authorities in major countries. The CM of New Delhi expressed the intention of buying Twizy.
