Variants:

Figo will come in three variants – base, mid and high end (called platinum). The Titanium variant will have an optional pack (high plus).

Colours:

Figo will come in seven attractive colours (three regular colours and four new ones). For the first time, bright colours are offered to indian customers. The colours of the figo are diamond white,panther black,moondust silver,chille,sea grey, squeeze and colorad red.

Features:

Figo safety features includes ABS with EBD and twin airbags. Figo’s innovative feature list includes dash mounted button operated boot control, programmable remote locking system (you can only the boot or the driver side door),flip-fold down rear seat, lane departure signal and motorcycle inspired instrument panel. The comfort features of the figo are height adjustable driver seat, large glove box with lid, integrated MP3 player with bluetooth connectivity and an aux port and central locking.

Mercedes Benz launches 2 New Engineered Variants for E-Class Sedan Series

Mercedes Benz India steps ahead in the luxurious car market firmly by introducing two astonishing engine variants in E250 V6 and E250 CDI Blue efficiency. Sophistication E-class Sedan E250 is powered with 6 cylinder 2497cc V6 petrol rated delivers an output of 204 bhp and 30 kgm torque.

The new diesel chic E250 CDI Blue Efficiency is equipped with in-line-4 2143 cc engine and it is rated at 201 bhp and 50+ kgm. The driving dynamics of E250 V6 is increased with 245 Nm of torque and top speed of 250 kmph with the 7G – TRONIC transmission followed by E250 CDI with 500 NM torque in 1600-1800 rpm.

The E250 V6 will be priced at 41.13 lakhs and the E250 CDI BlueEfficiency will be Rs.39.87 lakhs (Ex – Showroom Mumbai)

Ford Figo comes with both petrol and diesel engine option. The 1.2L petrol engine under the hood of the Figo generates 70bhp at 6250rpm and a maximum torque of 104Nm at 4000rpm. Ford Figo 1.4L diesel engine (duratorq which also powers the ikon) pumps out 68bhp of maximum power at 4000rpm and 160Nm of maximum torque at 2000rpm. Both the engines are teamed with iB5 manual transmission. Figo will come in three variants (top end being the Titanium variant). With excellent cabin space and 284 litres of luggage space Fiat Figo might lure buyers.

Figo is 3795mm long,1908mm 1680mm wider and 1427mm taller. The dimensions qualifies the Figo for small car excise duty. Ford claims the Figo features longest wheelbase in its class – 2489mm. All the three variants of Figo is equipped with 14″*5.5″ steel wheels (no alloys even for top end variant). Figo runs on 175/65R14 radial tyres (both front and rear). Figo uses disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear. The suspension at the front is the common Mcpherson strut and at the rear is the twist beam one. 45 litres fuel tank could ensure a longer driving range for Figo customers.

Nissan launches Sports Sedan ‘Nissan 370Z’ in India

Nissan has launched its idol sports car Nissan 370Z in India. Nissan India is the subsidiary company of Japan’s third largest automobile firm Nissan Motor Company. With this launch the company has entered the league of sports car selling companies.

This new sedan sports powerful 7-speed automatic and 6-speed manual transmission engine. Nissan 370Z is sixth generation car of Z-series and it is energized with 3696 cc V6 engine which outputs 336 PS@7000rpm and 365 Nm@5200.

Despite aluminum door panels, hood and hatch, the 370Z weighs well over 3000lbs.Sources say that it will be available in the range of Rs 28-35 lakh. The vehicle will be sold through a select network of dealerships which is being set up by partner Hover Automotive, a third party dealer managing company.

The company has a plan to unveil four models in India under its fully imported category cars, and is yet to decide on the fourth model. Nissan 370Z gains the credit of capturing the third position in the series of fully imported cars followed by Teana and X-Trail.

Honda to instill 80% localization for its small car

Honda’s small car, slated for 2011 will have localized components for 80% and will also replicate its best selling City, said its Director for Marketing. The new car will find its production platform from Greater Noida it is learnt to mmet the demands with full fervor. The other existing models would also be framed with more local components as City uses 75% ,Civic has 71% of and Accord is with 28% oflocalized components.

Toyota to ramp up Fortuner’s capacity; booked 6,500 orders

Fortuner will see more numbers in the days to come as already 6500 orders have been booked. Now the assembling capacity is to be increased to 1000 units a month, according to Toyota-Kirloskar sources. Costing Rs18.9lakh, the car will ready for deliver by August this year.

The assembling capacity in Bangalore is being increased substantially from 500 units a month to 750 units and 800 with the current 950. Sensing the demand the company had suspended the bookings earlier but now it has revived the bookings. The JV has already sold 3154 units of Fortuner in India since last August. For them India is an important market compared to other markets like Japan, US and Europe.

OMA STAR from Lohia Auto

The maor player in the electric two wheeler Lohia has launched an eco-friendly OMA STAR. The new vehicle promises performance, style, comfort, new looks, and special features(digital speedometer, alloy wheels, more storage capacity, high ground clearance, telescopic suspension. The vehicle proves its worth for the money.

Available in three colors Macho Black, Fiery red, and Spirited silver and to cost Rs25999(Delhi) and Rs35000 in other parts of the country. The speed is 25km/hr at a 6-8 hour charge to run 60km enabled by a battery of 20Ah. The front drum measures 80m while the rear is 110mm. two more models from Lohia are OMA and FAME with 10 dealers in Delhi alone for sales and service plus parts. According to the CEO of the company, the target is quality and concern for environment and alternative for economy.

GM India draws up sales, export strategy for e-Spark

The electric version of Spark from GM is ready for the drive. Backed by Reva electric for battery and other allied technology GM intends to make export of these cars while the kits will be offered in countries having the car. GM has offered to let the battey on lease by saving 40% of the total cost of the battery. The customers can avail the weekly upgraded battery and the car will be available with this battery in Q4 of this year.

The production is from Talegaon plant with an expected sale of 5000units in the first year. Reva will deliver power cube which will be technologised by GM’s engineers with 90% localization. With 40% of the cost going for the battery the net cost of the car is to be finalized soon. To meet the cost factor GM is opting for other efficient modes of battery other than Li-ion which is in use in the US. There is an option for re-charging of batteries at select stations. The actual on road of the car, according to the company official will be lesser than a petrol car.
