GM India draws up sales, export strategy for e-Spark

The electric version of Spark from GM is ready for the drive. Backed by Reva electric for battery and other allied technology GM intends to make export of these cars while the kits will be offered in countries having the car. GM has offered to let the battey on lease by saving 40% of the total cost of the battery. The customers can avail the weekly upgraded battery and the car will be available with this battery in Q4 of this year.

The production is from Talegaon plant with an expected sale of 5000units in the first year. Reva will deliver power cube which will be technologised by GM’s engineers with 90% localization. With 40% of the cost going for the battery the net cost of the car is to be finalized soon. To meet the cost factor GM is opting for other efficient modes of battery other than Li-ion which is in use in the US. There is an option for re-charging of batteries at select stations. The actual on road of the car, according to the company official will be lesser than a petrol car.
