Bajaj Auto launched new Bajaj Discover 125cc bike with DTS-i power. Bajaj Discover 125cc DTS-i will be addition to Bajaj Discover bike family of Discover 100 and the Discover 150 models.Discover 125cc features a 4 stroke,air-cooled engine which delivers a power of 11 Bhp @ 8000 rpm and produces a torque of 10.80 Nm @ 6500rpm.

Yamaha to set up its third manufacturing plant in India

Yamaha,the leading Japanese two-wheeler maker is in a plan to set up its third plant in India in order to expand its business in India.Apart from this,the company also plans to introduce an export unit in India for selling its bikes in the overseas market which includes Latin America and Africa.

The CEO and Managing Director of India Yamaha Motor,Mr.Hiroyuki Suzuki in his recent statement reveals,”Currently a study is on for setting up a third plant. By the end of this year, we should think of a new factory.”He also added, By 2013, the company would like to sell eight lakh units in the domestic market and two lakh units in export when the Surajpur plant reaches a capacity of 10 lakh units annually.He also explained,”We would like to start making the plan for it as soon as possible” and the need for a third plant, over and above the Surajpur and Faridabad plants, is in view of the company’s ambitions to expand in the Indian market as well as also an intensified focus on exports.

The fully owned subsidiary of Japan based Yamaha,the India Yamaha Motor Pvt.Ltd., is going invest up to Rs.300 crores for setting its surajpur plant in India in the year 2012 and by 2013 its total manufacturing will reach up to 10 lakh units.The company aims at an annual export volume of three lakh units by the year 2015.

Bajaj confirms next generation discover and pulsar

Bajaj today confirmed the launch of next generation discover and pulsar this fiscal year. We have been telling you that Bajaj is working on new generation pulsar and discover with some technology sharing with KTM. This new generation pulsars and discover could spell a new era to Bajaj Auto stride in the two wheeler segment, as the company eyes to double its total production to 7-8 million units.  “we will have a completely new range of Discovers and Pulsars in the market in less than six months from now. These will be built on totally new platforms and will have very little or no similarity with the present generation models”Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj said. “Our target is to make seven to eight million units every year, including the new range, after three or four years. Some of the existing vehicles will remain and some will be replaced”, Bajaj added.

We expect the launches – next generation pulsar and discover to happen sometime in december or early next year . We expect the Bajaj to retain very few models while replacing others with new generation models.

Bajaj is also said to be ready with its new car.  Rajiv Bajaj says, the prototype is ready and the product will come with attractive price tag (between Rs1,50,000 and Rs2,00,000) and will return a mileage of 30kmpl.

Ashok Leyland and Nissan rolls out its first LCV-DOST

Ashok Leyland and Nissan Motor Company grouped together and have introduced their first product – the Ashok Leyland DOST on Tuesday in India.It is the first Light Commercial Vehicle to be launched in India.It will reach the market in the second quarter of 2011-2012.It will hold the Ashok Leyland badge and will be manufactured in the Ashok Leyland’s Hosur manufacturing plant.The vehicle will be available in both BS-III and BS-IV versions.

The Executive Vice Chairman of Hinduja Automotive Ltd. and the Chairman of Nissan Ashok Leyland Powertrain Ltd.,Dr. V. Sumantran,revealed that,“The Indian market is rapidly evolving and customer expectations are growing. We believe that the LCV segment is ready for a substantial upgradation of products that yet offer low cost of ownership. The Ashok Leyland DOST with its carefully calibrated design and features, attempts to offer a new level of experience to the Indian customer”.He also confirmed,“Its design reflects the philosophy of both partners: blending the long traditions of quality and comfort of Nissan with the proven record of rugged reliability and fuel efficiency of Ashok Leyland”.

The payload capacity of this LCV id about 1.25 Tonnes.It powers a specially-developed, 55 hp high-torque,turbo-charged Common Rail Diesel engine.The three versions of this vehicle is a base version with manual steering, a mid version with power steering and a higher version which will have dual tone interiors, power steering and AC.

The Senior Vice-President of Nissan Motor Company and Chairman, Ashok Leyland Nissan Vehicles Ltd.,Dr. Andy Palmer,said,“The product blends the best in terms of Japanese engineering from Nissan, with local relevance that Ashok Leyland brings to the table. It represents a very attractive value proposition to the small and medium businesses that it is targeted at and we are confident that it will find wide acceptance when launched.”

Following this first product,the second product of this JV would be a Nissan product and the third one will be a large tonnage LCV holding Ashok Leyland badge.

Volkswagen launches Passat in India

Volkswagen,the European car maker sends off its new edition Passat to India on Tuesday.The specialty of this car is that it is introduced with BlueMotion technologies which mainly aims in achieving fuel efficieny and reduction of emissions.This BlueMotion technology represents only the cleanest and the most efficient cars in the Volkswagen range. The sales Director of Volkswagen India Group,Mr.Neeraj Garg  said “The all new-Passat will be exclusively available with BlueMotion technologies. It is a design into the future with upgrade comfort, safety and extremely fuel efficient”.

He also said,”We hope the all new-Passat will help us to increase our sales volumes in near future”. The new Passat will be available only in Diesel variant but in both automatic and manual transmissions.Its price ranges between Rs 20.80-Rs 25.65-lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).The
company announces bookings for the passat start from today onwards and the car delivery will start by this month-end.

Audi unveils Q5 2.0 TDI quattro in India

Audi,the German luxury automobile maker declared the launch of the Audi Q5 2.0 TDI quattro on Monday.The Audi Q5 car is powered by both petrol and diesel engines-2.0 TFSI q and 3.0 TDI q respectively.

The head of Audi India,Mr.Michael Perschke quoted that they are confident that the addition of the powerful 2.0 TDI q engine to the Audi Q5 range in India will strengthen and sustain their leadership position in the luxury SUV segment.The all new Audi Q5 2.0 TDI q, resonates higher efficiency and dynamic performance with its new engine and refreshed

The price of this car is around Rs.3,905,000 (ex-showroom Maharashtra).The company announced in a press release that the delivery of this car will start from April.

Hyosung to launch 250cc bikes in India

South Korean S&T and Garware group based on Pune plans to form a joint venture to produce and deliver motorcycles in India.Garware Motors has planned to launch the 650-cc GT650R and the 700-cc ST7 S&T heavy bikes in India on April 20.The price of the GT650 bike will be below Rs.5 lakh and similarly ST7’s price will be below Rs.6 lakh.

The Managing Director of Garware Motors,Diya Garware informed that S&T is keen to enter India. They plan a manufacturing JV by mid-2012.If and when the JV is formed they will enter the 250-cc segment.

She also revealed that the homologation process is over and they expect to get the ARAI certificate by next week.

The company plans to open showrooms in Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kochi and Kolkata, in addition to Pune. It has created a new Rs 20-crore assembly plant in Wai near Pune.It aims at a sales of 2000 bikes per year.It is forming a pan-India bikers’ club, Hyfliers,for developing its bikes.
