Bentley launches New Continental GT sedan in India

Bentley,the Super luxury car maker launched its Continental GT sedan in India with a price tag of Rs.1.9 crores on Thursday.

Chris Buxton,Bentley Regional Director informed,“India is aggressively growing in the luxury automobile space. We understand the growing needs of the market and hence we bring the new Continental GT to India. India being a key market for Bentley, we would see more key model launches in the coming two years”.He also added,“We hope to achieve a sales of 100 units here from our entire range by next year. The Indian super luxury car market is estimated to be around 600-700 units this year and it is growing at around 30 per cent every year. Our sales in India are growing at around 45 per cent every year”.

Continental GT features two-door, four-seat coupe with touch-screen controls.The speciality in this car is its new six-speed quick shift transmission which reduces the gear change up to 50 percent.It holds a 12-cylinder engine which delivers about 575 PS power.Within 4.6 seconds,it achieves 60 miles an hour reaching a top speed of 318 kmph.It comes with an additional qualities of 567bhp and 71.3kgm of torque which is not available in its previous model.

Audi has planned to launch its Q3 model at Auto Shanghai 2011.It would be manufactured at Martorell in Spain.Audi might provide  three petrol engines in the Q3, a 140bhp 1.4 litre, a 180bhp 1.8 litre and a 210bhp 2.0 litre.The new Audi Q3 is to be priced in the range of Rs 22 lakh to Rs 30 lakh when it comes to India.It is based on the Volkswagen Tiguan and its sales commence from the end of 2011.

Ford Fiesta Classic is the deglam version of the outgoing Ford Fiesta repositioned by the automaker as the entry level sedan pitted against the other affordable sedans in the segment such as Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Manza.Ford Fiesta Classic will offer some of the luxury features such as body color rear view mirror and door handles, fog lamps, chrome garnishes and plush interior material had to bid a good-bye to the sedan.

Maserati enters into the Indian Market at a starting price of Rs.1.2 crores

Maserati,the Italian luxury sports car maker has today announced its entry into the Indian market.The Maserati models are to be priced from Rs 1.20 crore and Rs 1.43 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The Managing Director of Maserati Asia Pacific,Mr.Simone Niccolai informed,”The growth in luxury car market last year made us confident to enter here in 2011. Today we are very excited to enter India. We will offer the full product range to Indian customers”.He added that the company has appointed Shreyans Group as the official importer of its cars into India. The delivery of the cars would start from July-August and “I am confident that the Indian function will play a significant role in building Maserati brand here.”

Niccolai also said,”We will open our first showroom in Mumbai later this year. The second showroom will be started in New Delhi early next year. We will have presence in seven locations by 2015″ and the luxury car market in India grew by about 70 per cent and is estimated to be around 15,000 units in 2010.

At present,Maserati is dealing with  63 nations across the world including India in which US is its largest market which contributed about 2000 units last year.

Harley Davidson unveils ‘Forty-Eight’ in India at a price tag of Rs. 8.5 lakhs

Harley Davidson,the Premium motorcycle maker of US has announced today that it has introduced its 1,200cc superbike ‘Forty-Eight’ in India which is to be priced around 8.5 lacs(ex-showroom, Delhi).The US iconic brand has started selling its imported bikes in India only from this year.

Previous month,Harley Davidson had revealed that it would not increase the prices of its two models that is to be assembled in India despite an increase in import duty for completely knocked down parts.

In November 2010, Harley Davidson announced to start assembling bikes in India from this year.After Brazil,the Indian plant will be only its second facility outside its home-base.In December 2010, the company had declared that the SuperLow and Iron 883 will be the first two models to be rolled out of the CKD assembly facility in Bawal in Haryana.The ex-showroom prices of the SuperLow and Iron 883 bikes are around Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 6.50 lakh respectively.

The bookings of the superbike ‘Forty-Eight’ will commence from this month and the bike will be available across the five Harley-Davidson dealerships in the country.

Ford Fiesta classic price list

Ford today launched the Fiesta classic series in Chennai.Fiesta classic is nothing but the existing fiesta but with new moniker to pave way for the soon-to-be-launched new Fiesta. Fiesta classic comes with new features which includes –
1) classic new interiors with ebony
2) jasper blue colour instrument panel for fiesta classic
3) new canter and floor console finished graphite metallic
4) new seats with soft fabric and enhance two tone door trim
5) classic moniker

Fiesta classic will come in two engine options – petrol and diesel and three variants – lxi,clxi and sxi. Fiesta classic also gets a new body colour – colardo red. Fiesta classic petrol starts at a price tag of Rs549030 and fiesta classic diesel price is Rs6,48,000.

Maruti recalls diesel cars – swift, ritz and dzire

Maruti today announced recall of 13,157 diesel cars including swift, swift dzire and ritz.  Maruti Suzuki India Limited today announced that it will inspect the ‘Connecting Rod Bolt’ for 13,157 units of Swift Dzire (4505 cars), Swift (6841 cars) and Ritz (1811 cars) diesel cars with engines manufactured between 13th November 2010 and 4th December 2010. If the Connecting Rod Bolt is found defective, the company will replace the component free of cost. No other vehicles in the range or the vehicles exported by Maruti Suzuki are impacted.

Maruti Suzuki dealers will contact owners of the cars. The new part has been despatched to the dealer workshops.  Users of Maruti Suzuki diesel cars purchased after 13th November 2010, can check the website www.marutisuzuki.com to ascertain if their diesel engine car is among the above mentioned vehicles. Customer need to fill in the engine number (D13A followed by 7 digits) on the computer screen. Engine Number is embossed on vehicle ID plate and also on the vehicle registration documents. Customers may also contact the nearest Maruti Suzuki dealer workshop to ascertain if their car is amongst the above vehicles.

Maruti Suzuki increases its car prices by up to Rs 9,000

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has announced today a hike in all its models due to the increasing input costs.The hike will be up to Rs.9000 and is effective from April 4,2011.Tata Motors has already increased the prices of its vehicles by up to Rs 36,000 from April 1.

In 2011,it is the second hike of Maruti Suzuki which had already hiked its price in January up to Rs.8000 except its Alto k10 model.

A company official of Maruti Suzuki said,”We have undertaken a price hike across the models ranging between 0.2 per cent to 2.4 per cent” and “This step was undertaken to offset rising input costs”.He also added it will translate into a minimum increase of Rs 1,100 and a maximum of Rs 9,000 depending on model.

Hyundai Motor India is also putting efforts to hike its prices.An HMIL spokesperson informed,”We are also considering price hikes but the quantum and the date has not been finalised yet. We need to take the step to offset rising input costs”.
