LML launches Select scooter

LML has launched 150cc select scooter in Delhi and NCR region. The four stroke 150cc engine generates a peak power of 8.8PS at 6200rpm and 11.3Nm of peak torque. Four geared LML Select is priced Rs47,140. Select also comes with electric start which comes at Rs50,978. LML known for its legendary vespa scooter has made its comeback only recently.LML has been slowly reaching out to customers with dealer points in few cities. LML will launch the select scooter in punjab, harayana and uttar pradesh before the end of the year.

Product plans

LML plans to launch four new products in India which includes two scooters and two bikes. Scooters are most likely to be gearless and in the 100-125cc segment. LML bikes will target the mass market 100cc segment. LML which currently exports star,steall and speedy scooters plans to develop 50cc scooters for export market.

Toyota launched new facelifted Corolla Altis

The new facelifted version of Toyota Corolla Altis has been launched in both petrol and diesel versions.It features the 1.8 litre petrol engine which pumps out 140PS power at 6400 rpm and produces a torque of 173Nm.The petrol and diesel versions comes in the price range of Rs.10.53 to 14.77 lakhs and Rs.11.46 to 14.55 lakhs respectively.The ARAI mileage for the petrol car is 15.22 kmpl and  for the diesel car is 21.45 kmpl.

Honda discounts price of City

To counter the competition especially the Volkswagen vento, Honda has slashed the price of its flagship sedan City. Honda says that cost reduction is possible through its cost reduction efforts in the supply chain & manufacturing City price reduction will be effective from June 14, 2011.

Commenting on the new price structure, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Siel Cars India, said, “Our R&D function in India (HRAP-I) started working on localization and cost down activities for our volume models  from year 2009. In anticipation of bigger volumes resulting in economies of scale from the second half of current year, we have achieved considerable cost reduction and are happy to pass on the benefit to the customers with immediate effect. The Honda City would now start from Rs 7.49 lakhs (ex showroom Delhi).”

S&T Motors plans to set up joint venture in India

S&T Motors,the South Korean two-wheeler major and the manufacturer of Hyosung brand bikes plans to set up a joint venture with Pune based Garware motors in order to manufacture its superbikes in India.

Hyosung aims to launch 8 models in India by 2014.It is to start with the launch of ST7 and GT650R superbikes in India followed by the other models later.Hyosung bikes will be brought as CKD units and will be assembled at a plant in Satara near Pune.

Ms.Diya Garware Ibanez,Managing Director of Garware Motors informed that the idea is to gauge,create and encourage the Indian market before S&T finalises its joint venture.For this,they will have about 15 dealerships across the country this year.She said within the last 45 days of opening of four dealerships, Garware Motors has received 125 bookings,which demonstrates an increasing interest among youngsters in superbikes.

Maruti rolled out WagonR Millennium Limited Edition

Maruti Suzuki in order to celebrate its 10-lakh sales of WagonR has launched the new Limited Edition of the same car in India named the WagonR Millenium.The price details of the car has not yet announced by Maruti.It features the same K-series engine of WagonR and is available in both LPG and Petrol variants.

Kawasaki Ninja 650R enters into Indian market

Bajaj Auto,India’s second largest two-wheeler company and Japanese Bike major Kawasaki launched its Ninja 650R bike in India at a price of Rs.4.57 lakhs.It features a liquid-cooled,DOHC,eight-valve fuel-injected twin cylinder engine which pumps out a power of 72PS and a torque of 66Nm.

Regarding this,the Managing Director of Kawasaki Motors,Mr. Yoshiro Segawa said that many customers had expectations for a new product.The purpose of Ninja 650R is to establish the presence of the Kawasaki brand as a premium sports model in India.

Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto stated that they conceived Bajaj Probiking 6 years ago with the objective of making it the default destination for motorbike enthusiasts looking for looking for premium and performance bikes.And the Ninja 650R is the next step in realizing that objective.

Maruti rolls out Estilo Vogue

India’s largest car maker,Maruti Suzuki has launched a special edition of Estilo christened “Estilo Vogue”.This launch by Maruti has been done to celebrate the sale of 2,00,000 Estilo small cars in the domestic market.Estilo Vogue will be a CNG variant and features accessories labeled with “Vogue” branding on seat cover, floor mat etc.

Mr.Shashank Srivastava,Chief General Manager,Marketing of MSIL quoted that Maruti Suzuki Estilo has found a great appreciation among style conscious buyers in India. Estilo’s success in the domestic market is reflected in its high growth of more than 25% in last fiscal.

He also said that they are delighted at the success of the Estilo with the customers in the South East Asian markets. This international popularity is a testament of attributes like high product quality and excellent `cost of ownership’ which have been appreciated by the customers both in domestic and international markets.

Compact cars like the Estilo have emerged in the top five model tally in the South East Asian markets.If Maruti Suzuki doesn’t hike the price of the special edition drastically,then the ‘Estilo Vogue’ might slightly improve the sales and springs up the Estilo brand among buyers.

Ford Unveils Fiesta 2011 in India

The new Fiesta unveiled by Ford today is powered with both 1.5 litre petrol and diesel engines delivering  108.46bhp and 89.72bhp power respectively.Both the versions of Fiesta are equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox.Ford offers the new Fiesta with best in class fuel efficiency.The Electric Power Steering (EPAS) has Pull Drift Compensation technology which offers stability.It is to be priced around Rs.10 lakhs.
