Suzuki’s all-new Regina city-car concept has been unveiled and is to make its debut next month in Tokyo motor show.This next-generation global compact car will feature an excellent fuel efficiency,light-weight and superior aerodynamics.It is expected that the conventional petrol motor of Regina could return a fuel economy of 32kmpl.The car will be placed below Swift and can hold four members.

Tata Motors launched new Sumo Gold

India’s leading auto maker,Tata Motors has introduced the new Sumo Gold which is an upgraded version of its famous MUV Sumo.The four variants of Sumo Gold are GX, EX, LX and CX and its price starts from Rs.5.23 lakhs.The new Sumo Gold comes equipped with two engine options namely a BS-4 compliant CR4 Turbo motor and a BS-3 compliant 3-litre DI motor.

The CR4 engine delivers a power of 84bhp and produces a maximum torque of 25.5kgm.Likewise,the 3-litre DI motor offers a power output of 69bhp at 3000rpm and 23kgm of torque at 1000 to 2000rpm.

The car features a slightly updated look and new powertrains.The upgraded features of its exterior includes a mildly tweaked front grille,headlamps and fog-lamps and its interior holds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and updated switches for HVAC and power windows.

Land Rover launched Range Rover Evoque in India

The British car manufacturer Land Rover has launched its Range Rover Evoque model in India in both petrol and diesel engine options.Both the engines are mated to a six-speed auto and power all four wheels.The two available versions of Evoque are three-door coupe and five-door SUV.

The three-door coupe version of Evoque is available only in the top-end Dynamic variant at a price of Rs.72.08 lakhs.It is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine which delivers a power of 237bhp.The five-door SUV version of Evoque is available in three trim levels namely Pure,Prestige and Dynamic.The SUV is equipped with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine pumping out a power of 187bhp.

Pure is the base version of the five-door SUV available at a price of Rs.56.91 lakhs and features a fixed panoramic glass roof,Xenon headlamps,Range Rover’s Terrain Response off-road system,cruise control,17-inch alloy wheels,keyless go,climate control,electric adjust front seats,leather seats,paddle-shifters,8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming and an 11-speaker Meridian audio system.

In addition to the above mentioned features,the Prestige variant gets a luxury interior and exterior styling kit, 18-inch alloy wheels, premium leather seats, contrast-painted roof and keyless entry.The additional features of the top-end Dynamic variant are a sporty exterior and interior styling kit and perforated leather seats and is priced Rs.64.73 lakhs.

Yamaha plans tie-up with Mahindra

Yamaha,the Japan based leading two-wheeler maker plans to make a joint venture with Mahindra 2Wheelers in order to replicate its success in the 150cc bike segment and also for getting success in the launch of its scooters in India in 2012.The JV could involve manufacturing and marketing tie-up which will help Yamaha to aggressively compete with Honda and Suzuki in India.For Mahindra,the tie-up will greatly help in increasing its marketing strength.

Sources said that there were comprehensive discussions going on.Yamaha wanted many things.They’re looking at a holistic business partnership,which includes marketing and manufacturing.He informed that Yamaha is a complicated organisation with many investors,so this is not a straightforward matter.Nothing has been finalised yet … the talks have not reached the investment stage.

It is also said that talks have started and that Mahindra could be rethinking its strategy after entering the two-wheeler market aggressively last year and then facing technical problems with its sole bike model — Stallio.A tie-up may now focus on technology or a licensing agreement.

Yamaha India to bring scooters in 2012

Yamaha,the Japan based two-wheeler maker plans to introduce scooters in India in the mid of 2012.Yamaha scooters will be a major competitor for Honda scooters which currently rules the Indian domestic market.The scooters of Yamaha will be made at Yamaha’s facilities in Surajpur and Faridabad and is expected in the price range of Rs.50,000 to Rs.80,000.

Caterham sports cars soon to enter Indian market

British sports carmaker,Caterham is soon to enter Indian market with the help of Dabur India.Caterham plans for a local assembly plant in India and is to launch its famous Lotus 7 Series 3-inspired ‘Seven’ model and the ‘SP/300r’ track car in the country.We can soon expect the Caterham lightweight sports cars to hit our Indian roads.

Skoda to launch Rapid on November 16,2011

Luxury car maker Skoda plans to launch its entry level C-segment sedan Rapid on November 16,2011.Skoda Rapid is based on VW Vento except the Skoda badging and the front end which looks like Fabia.Rapid will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options.The 1.6-litre petrol engine of Rapid delivers a power of 105bhp and a maximum torque of 160Nm.Similarly,the 1.5-litre diesel engine pumps out 105bhp of power and 250Nm of max torque.

Both the engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission while the petrol version of Rapid will also be getting a six-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.It is also rumoured that Skoda will also soon launch the diesel version of Rapid with Automatic transmission.The dashboard and interiors of Rapid are also shared with VW Vento.Skoda will price the Rapid slightly lower than the Vento.Rapid will be in a position in between Nissan Sunny and VW Vento and hence it will be the second least priced C-segment sedan in the Indian market.

Tata Motors to launch Aria Automatic

India’s largest automaker,Tata Motors is now planning for an automatic version of its latest crossover SUV Aria.Aria with an automatic gearbox will be an another good option for the buyers.Aria AT is now under tests in India as well as abroad.It is expected that the company could use some of its technology and is to develop its first automatic transmission in joint venture with Jaguar-Land Rover.Aria AT will also be powered by the same 2.2-litre DiCOR engine of the currently available Aria.The Aria AT is likely to be priced Rs.1 lakh higher than the existing manual variant.

Renault Pulse images

Renault today launched the much awaited pulse in India. Pulse is the first hatchback for the indian market from the French automaker.Pulse shares the platform and the engine with the Nissan’s micra. Surprisingly, pulse shares the style of the micra too. The end result is it looksalike a ditto of micra. It reminds us the pixo and A-star . Pulse is different from the micra only in the stylng of the nose and logo it seems.
