ICML has unveiled more about its new world car platform. ICML which develops this new world car platform jointly with Pininfarina an Italian design firm will invest about Rs 700 crore for this project.ICML is currently co-developing a 7-seater sports utility vehicle and a 5-seater C-segment car. ICML plans to make CKD units in its Indian plant while the assembely of the cars will be done across the world. ICML is currently exploring the commercial feasibility of the production of the vehicle with various manufacturers in Europe., “We will be launching the world car by 2010 in the European and Indian market. The CKD of the car will be manufactured in our Amb facility in Himachal and then will be assembled in Italy,” ICML Managing Director Deepak Mittal said. ICML is in talks with overseas companies for engines to comply the EU and US emission norms. The production capacity of the world car would be 50,000 units per year. “The cars will have high standard of safety and engineering. The quality would be at par with global products, ” added Mittal.
