Mahindra & Mahindra,one of the leading car maker in India plans to launch its all-new SUV by this year end.The new SUV christened the XUV500 is the first monocoque vehicle of Mahindra powered by a transverse engine.
The attractive features of XUV500 include the high mounted,swept back headlamps and the curved Mahindra grille.Its comfort features include the rising beltline and tapered roof which offers an air of compactness.
The XUV500 features a new transaxle and a transversely located 2.2-litre mHawk engine which pumps out a power in the range of 120bhp to 140bhp and an estimated torque of around 32.6kgm.The company plans for a twin turbo version in the future with an aim of boosting the power up to 170bhp.
It also holds lot of good features such as traction control,ESP and hill descent control.Mahindra plans to launch the new XUV500 initially in India and South Africa and later on will be launched in other markets also.It is expected at an price of Rs.13 lakhs for the base 2WD version.
