Ford,the American auto maker plans to launch its Ecosport SUV in India in 2012.The car is to be showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo and will be launched in the latter part of the year.Ecosport is built on global compact car platform B2E.It is a sub-four metre car featuring a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.
The car looks fresh,boldly designed and well proportioned and it features high bonnet,generous ground clearance,subtle cladding,attractive and striking inverse ‘V’ in the nose,a pair of menacing intakes in the chin and the tipped-forward stance.The rear part of the car features pillar-less rear windscreen and sharply cut tail-lights.
Ecosport will be powered by the new 1.5-litre DV5 diesel engine which churns out a power of 90bhp.The overall gearing is expected to be too short.The petrol version of the car will come only later.The tall stance and the high ground clearance of the car will well suit for Indian road conditions.It is expected at an affordable price tag of Rs.7-9 lakhs.
