Yamaha to launch R25 by 2015 in India

Yamaha has been working on a 250cc motorcycle,  R25 and plans to launch this motorcycle in the country by 2015. The Japanese two wheeler manufacturer has showcased the R25 concept at the 2014 Auto Expo. Yamaha R25 concept was first unveiled at 2013 Tokyo Motor Show in November, 2013. The production model pictures were also leaked by Young Machine, a Japanese magazine.

The R25 measures 2000 mm in length, 720 mm in width and 1140 mm in height. The Yamaha R25 will get a new 250cc, liquid cooled, four stroke, in-line two cylinder, fuel-injected engine. The engine is mated to six speed gearbox. The engine is expected to produce around 28-33 PS of maximum power.  We can expect an overall mileage of 25-30 kmpl. It will include twin headlights and a visor which is set between two headlights. It will also get a full fairing, twin seats and an upswept exhaust.

A person who involved in the Project said. “Yamaha is working to make some changes (minor) to the R25 model as displayed at the Auto Expo recently. The Japanese firm plans to float the product in the market on a priority basis and hence is looking at commercially launching it in 2015”.

It will compete with the motorcycles such as Honda CBR 250, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the HX250R, upcoming model from Hero we can expect the price of this R25 at Rs.2.5 lakhs approximately.
