Kawasaki plans to relaunch Ninja 250R

Kawasaki plans to relaunch its Ninja 250R which will be priced less than Rs.2.7 lakh. The relaunched Kawasaki Ninja 250R will be the new Super sportsbike at a very competitive price tag.The usage of assembly unit of Kawasaki in India is 30% only. It has the capacity to assemble 5000 motorcycles per year .But it is currently assembled 1500 models of its Ninja 300R and Ninja 650R.So it plans to relaunch the Ninja 250R in order to use its resources effectively.

Kawasaki launched the last generation Ninja 250R in the year of 2008 at a price of Rs 2.69 lakh.The previous Ninja 250R is powered by a 249cc, parallel-twin engine which can develop the maximum power of 33 Ps at 11000 Rpm and peak torque of 22 Nm at 8200 Rpm. This Ninja 250R was replaced by Ninja 300 R which is more powerful and expensive.

Kawasaki also plans to launch more sport bikes in India by the upcoming years. The current Kawasaki models which are available in India are Ninja 300R, Ninja 650R, Ninja ZX-10R and Ninja ZX-14 R. The Ninja 300R and the Ninja 650R are locally assembled models while the Ninja ZX-10R as well as the ZX-14R are imported models from Japan.
Shigeto Nishikawa, deputy MD, India Kawasaki Motors, said. “We have a capacity to make 5000 units a year in India but we are operating at 1500 units at present. We have to make further use of this facility to improve its utilisation. That is why we are exploring the plan of launching more locally made products including the Ninja 250”
