We earlier reported you that TVS will soon two all new models – a powerful scooter and a clutch-less bike. One of vicky.in reader mailed us pictures of much touted clutch less bike. The clutch less bike similar on the lines of once popular Hero Honda street. The new bike made on star platform would be christened as “Star Sport CL 115″. As the name indicates, Star Sport CL 115 is powered by 115cc engine. It comes with four gears and an automatic clutch. Remember TVS is successfully selling Neo Bebek in Indonesia and mastered the art of making bikes with automatic clutch. Though automatic clutch is boon for city traffic and it will woo customers, TVS knows the mileage and the pricing will be the key in this price conscious segment. The failure of Hero Honda street and Kinetic K4 tells the same. These bikes failed because of the exorbitant pricing.
Coming back to the Star Sport CL 115, the bike also gets few modification on the styling. See the pictures, you can easily spot the FZ-ish tank. The reader says the unlike the FZ, the star sport CL 115 tank is of metal. Except for the tank and absence of clutch lever, the Star City Sport CL 115 resembles the star city i.e it’s not a step-thru. The Star Sport CL 115 will come with alloy wheels and self start. Overall, TVS aims not just executive segment buyers but also burgeoning scooter buyers with the Star Sport CL 115.

Vicky,
Please remove the last silver colored star city picture from the end. As I am the one who saw the bike and shot those pics, I can safely say that it will not resemble the ungainly Star City. The new bike is a real MACHO looking bike with good proportions. The last picture will give wrong information to the visitors. The seat is much wider than normal bikes and the bike as a whole looks more contomperorary. It is having 130mm DRUM brake all around with ALL BLACK theme. The engine area is one of the handsomest of all small capacity bikes. The sound is almost toned down Apache. May turn around TVS motors revenues. I like to add up that it have a GEAR Indicator just like the SUZUKI bikes to show the exact gear it is in.- AJK
good news vicky…..its actually looking quite better compared to old HH street and K4..engine is more powerful so it may be a success in India
If I am not wrong, the news report suggested an executive segment motorcycle…does that not mean 125 cc+? What makes you say it is a 115cc… the overall looks of the bike suggest a bigger engine size. Have you ridden the bike? What about mileage?
Santosh,
It is not a 125CC bike at all. The engine cylinder looks like a Star City 115 but the right crankcase cover is different all together to accomodate the centrifugal clutch. The starter motor is on the lower front side of the bike and not visible immediately if you look at the bike. There is a pronounced knee recess for the tank and the front side of tank’s shape is exactly like Yamaha FZ16 with pronounced smoothened triangular shape. Sorry that the snaps are taken on a basic mobile and will not do justice to actual design. The vehicle cannot be test driven as it is a pre release sample(see that there is no TVS logo on it nor the bike’s name.). The instrumentation is twin round pod variety with left being the KMPH and the gear indicator is shown in circular manner surrounding the fuel gauge on the right. THe fairing is so superb. Will give a run for money for Bajaj bikes.
The 125 cc bike coming up is the three valve Flame suitably redesigned and will be a good buy. — AJK.
Sorry read the last line above as:
The 125 cc bike coming up is the three valve TWIN SPARK Flame suitably redesigned and will be a good buy
It sounds good introductory package from TVS.
HH Street and Kinetic K4 failed mainly because of their awkward looks and moped-like performance. This, if priced reasonably, will be a sure winner.
Is disc brake too expensive and uncommon nowadays? Why are our Indian bike manufacturers so stingy and immature to include drum brakes in the feature list even now? They should learn lessons from even 50CC scooters abroad having disc brakes. After all, in India, cost seems to be more important than people’s lives, No?
Great going TVs some good competion now in the entry bike segment
Great going TVS some good competion now in the entry bike segment.. hero Honda now wil have to launch new bike rather than just cosmetic changes
thats correct goaonwheels. What do you i call you raj?
Kamal.
Ajit,
I agree with you, the bike does look gorgeous…Maan, looks like you had a good size up of the bike from real close…wish I was in your shoes.
Yila, I think your right, if TVS gets the pricing right,it should do much better than the HH Street or the K4
