TVS to launch Apache RTR 220

Print This Post Print This Post Email This Post Email This Post

TVS which raised the standard of performance bikes with Apache,Apache RTR FI and Apache RTR 180cc is believed to b working on higher displacement Apache’s. Across web, there is buzz that TVS is working on 220cc variant of Apache RTR. Though the reports are speculative, we wish the report is true. Apache RTR 220 might be the first TVS to come with full fairing. It might also feature ABS setting a new safety standard for performance bikes. Apache RTR 220 if launched will take on the likes of Bajaj Pulsar 220cc, Hero Honda Karizma ZMR and Yamaha R15. Recently, TVS has announced it will look to launch variants of its existing models in 2010. Whether Apache RTR 220 could be the one? we wish.

Stop lifting stuff from xBhp and not even giving it due credit.

    Shameful

  2. 2 Jas Dec 25th, 2009 at 4:31 pm

Its good to have a new performance bike, but i wonder why 220cc is favorite among indian auto companies instead of 250cc?

  3. 3 desh Dec 25th, 2009 at 5:43 pm

Because TVS can do nothing better but follow Bajaj Auto’s strategies. Even their TV ads are copies of KTM TV ads :-)

The Apache 160 and 180 are nothing but copies of the Pulsar 150 and 180, and hence the speculatation for a 220 cc from TVS

  4. 4 cha Dec 26th, 2009 at 9:57 am

yes in cc(engine capacity) department tvs copies Bajaj……

  5. 5 desh Dec 26th, 2009 at 11:23 am

not just in engine cc, but also in adding features to its bike TVS copies Bajaj

for example- Bajaj came out with digital speedo and LED tail lamps, half chain case with O rings, twin pilot lamps on the headlamps, rear disc brake, TVS has followed Bajaj

Bajaj gave tank extensions to its pulsar 200, tvs followed it on the RTR

no wonder even in market share TVS can just follow Bajaj :-)

    hey…

    TVS might copy BAJAJ but..
RTR series bikes are better than pulsars…

i own an R15 and i have both RTRs n Pulsars..
the feeling u get while riding a RTR is closer to the R15 than pulsar…

RTR is also smoother, costs lesser to maintain and it sounds better than the pulsar..

TVS copies bajaj Hah hah great joke!!! then Y did bajaj used CV carb n digital mapping of TVS fiero?, Y did others copied eco/power modes from TVS? Y did evrybody copied light beam design from victor?, TVS introduced 125cc 1st then came evrybody!! look the new discover100 which has similar exhaust of TVS star. P220 made the fastest indian only after benchmarking RTR160 of TVS. thats Y TVS restricts itself to produce Big bikes, all its R&D n Racing inputs will be copied by others, which happend to RTR160.

  8. 8 Sadanand Dec 27th, 2009 at 12:33 am

Oh Yes TVS copies Bajaj big time.

@Wester Jr, you own 3 bikes of different makes, yeah right :-) I am convinced.

    @Vijay

your comments are really funny. eco-power mode? :-) light beam design of Victor? :-) ha ha ha

the first 125 cc 4 stroke bike in India for your kind info was the Yamaha YBX :-)

Pulsar 220 benchmarked against the RTR 160? Nice joke :-)

The TOTAL motorcycle sales (NOT scooters and MOPEDS) of TVS is lesser than what Bajaj manages to sell with just its Pulsar models. By the way the TVS Apache RTR are very effective as VIBRATION devices :-) ha ha ha

  9. 9 giro Dec 27th, 2009 at 5:32 am

One more fan club here, guys we know that both the series have their own tribe, besides pros and cons. Both products are proven, who knows if in near future we see an Indian super bike.

  10. 10 Sadanand Dec 27th, 2009 at 12:09 pm

    @giro,

TVS tried very hard to create a “TRIBE” for its RTR. its website tried to promote that Apache “TRIBE” thingy :-)
Boss “TRIBE’S” are not created in the management board meetings.

By the way, RTR’s sell because there are “SMALL” built bikers to buy them. :-)

  11. 11 giro Dec 27th, 2009 at 6:44 pm

    @sadanand

You can not disagree that u are another pulsar fan boy merely coz u own it, i own bajaj too but i am disappointed regarding the quality of the products, way down the wire after all apache boasts an over sqaure engine which is no match for pulsar, revive it hard until it reaches 12000 rpm and u still wont loose the sheer power, trust me i have tried it.

  12. 12 Vipin_s Dec 27th, 2009 at 10:46 pm

@giro (aka TVS Fanboy who day dreams that he owns a pulsar :-) )

are you in dreamland dude that only TVS manufacture oversquare engines in India? the RTR struggles in reaching top speeds. for proof read the ride reports of magazines.

by the way your hands, feet and groin area become numb because of the crazy vibrations which start from 4000 rpm on the RTRs. @12000 rpm these vibrations are as effective as anesthetic on your limbs. :-) ha ha ha

  13. 13 vijay Dec 28th, 2009 at 10:01 pm

@ Sadanand, Yeh U’re correct ’bout 1st 125cc machine sorry for that, but wat’s ur comment ’bout copying Fiero??

FYI Eco/Power mode has been copied as rideswitch n blah balh by other manf. personaly I knew the device manftr’r.

then go to the past to know that victor was 1st to have engineered Headlight if I’m funny contact FIAM.

Yeah P220 made aggressive by taking inputs of caster, trail n Carb. spec of RTR.

yeah U r right that TVS total bike sale is =/TVS being the 1st & only Indian 2wheeler manufacturer to design & manufacture Indigenous bike (Victor).
    >TVS was the 1st to employ CAD/CAM machines in its manufacturing facilities.
    >TVS was first to begin R&D (govt. recognized) center, with mostly talented automotive engineers
spending very huge amount for R&D.
    >TVS 1st to have Test Track in India approved by ARAI, with high speed track, tight corners, Off-Road
    track & proving Grounds.
    >TVS was the 1st to hold a Racing team in India with Bi-directional technology transfer for winning
races (India/Abroad) & to improve product design & development.
    >TVS was the first to achieve Zero Defect product in India.
    >TVS is the 1st & the only 2wheeler Company in the world to acquire Japan’s Deming Award for
    Quality through Excellence in TQM.
    >TVS is the largest exporter of 2 wheeler’s from India continuously for years, demand raises in double
    every month.
    >TVS is the 1st & only company with Greenfield plant (manufacturing plant outside India, Indonesia) to
cater foreign markets 2nd plant is on construction in jawa.
    >1st to ban all its 2 stokes such as samurai, shogun, shoalin & scooty to prevent pollution, also
engaged in designing of Electric & hybrid vehicles.
    >TVS is the first Indian manufacturer to identify, acknowledge & Reduce energy consumption, in its
manufacturing units it had won several awards.
    > always conforms its product to European pollution norms.
    > always focus for Ergonomics, safety, user friendliness, Economics & performance rather than
    mere aesthetics.

  14. 14 vijay Dec 28th, 2009 at 10:25 pm

yeah U r right that TVS total bike sale is =/< Pulsar brand alone, but that doesnt mean Pulsar is Great n Apache is inferior, since almost 80% buyers were mere posers, which is satisfied enough by similar bikes.

I'm having some other bikes too, had riden almost all bikes to extreemes, some are good in some aspects. but overall I'm happy(very hapy, no one can say no), comfy n proud on any TVS.
I don like to own n ride for others.

TVS cares poor n commuters, proof is superXl, scooty, Star n the new "JIVE". while others concentrate on only money making n fame. (that too unethically_ my experience)holding stakes, of foreign motor comp, n raised share value doesn't mean great to a wise men.

@ Vipin my friends 2 r15's vibrate wat u say, vibration is common on any perf machines, which makes lively.

RTR vibes only @ certain RPM range before n after it runs smooth. RTR doesnt struggle to reach Top speed rather it loves to go top any time & any gear.

12000RPm is the redline of RTR so its vibrates there, whereas other bikes shivereven @ 9000RPM n seldom cross the limit.

  15. 15 Vipin_s Dec 29th, 2009 at 10:50 am

Some pissed off TVS employees are commenting here :-)

the summary is that TVS COPIES BAJAJ BIG TIME :-)

  16. 16 Vikas Dec 29th, 2009 at 10:23 pm

Hello knock knock wake up you TVS employees.
The RTR doessn’t sell for any other reason. It sells only because there are many SHORT guys who can’t ride other big and manly bikes. PERIOD

  17. 17 vijay Dec 30th, 2009 at 12:31 am

hah hah seems some pijaj employees were on work to find about next launch of tvs. huh hah

pity U shitlikrs, RTR 220’s just a rumor, no need for 200 , jus 160 n 180’s were enough to rape u all. go n start ur work on another scoop hah hah

can’t stop laughing on U poor guyz, sorry for U born/being crak’s ever

  18. 18 Vikas Dec 30th, 2009 at 9:47 am

KEEP DAYDREAMING YOU EMPLOYESS OF THE COMPANY WHICH MAKES BONESHAKERS

  19. 19 Vipin_s Dec 30th, 2009 at 2:58 pm

I can clearly see the frustration among the TVS fanboys :-)

After all only puny boys buy the RTR as they don’t have any other option but to go for this bone shaker :-)

@Vijay, TVS don’t have the money to invest further in a 200 or 220 cc motorcycle. ha ha ha :-)

Its better for TVS to sell scooters for Uncle-Aunties and mopeds to lower income guys. no wonder the RTR vibrates like hell as it is a TVS product :-)

  20. 20 sarbjot Jan 2nd, 2010 at 4:25 pm

@vipin_s ……hahaha you made a fool out of yourself.

  23. 23 Reeto Jan 4th, 2010 at 10:41 am

    Hi guys

To be very honest, Pulsar 220 is definitely a good vehicle both for street-racing as well as touring purpose. But it is also true that handling the P220 is a difficult ball-game. The rear suspension is soft and wallows when cornering over bumps. The Apache 180 is a pure performance bike and by the way, I have noticed tall guys riding the same. But inherent vibrations which eventually creep on to the handle-bar does pose an issue when using rtr 180 on highways at speeds above 100 km/h. The R15 on the other hand is a superbly refined engine. The karizma zmr is a great tourer but pricing is way too high.

I dont understand these pulsar lovers!!!! with no offense to BAJAJ, pulsar owners act as if they are riding on a SuperBike..its sheer stupidity..statistically(sarcastically as well), more than half of the pulsars that are sold in a month are sent for scrap with accidents..personally, I owned a Caliber 115, it was a sheer pleasure to ride on, and it gave more than 70kms/litre continously for six years..now I own HH Hunk, which is also a very good bike..I recently test drove RTR 180, pure pleasure it is to ride, also I tried P220, even that is a good bike..but I dont really understand why these pulsar lovers say Apache is for Shorter or Puny people!!!!! C’mon, the height difference between these two bikes is 15mm, just 1.5cms..so tell me, are you pulsar lovers trying to prove your manliness coz your bikes are taller by 1.5cms, OR, is it the real length of your penis sizes which you are tryinh to hide!!?? No Offense!! Just Purely Frustrated with these stupid Pulsar Lovers/Owners!!

This is truly pathetic about the site owner (Karthi, you listening??)
Why are such malicious comments not being prevented here.
Guys (I’m not pin-pointing anyone), you’re just posting “Out of Topic” comments. The news was “TVS to launch New Apache RTR 220″, and look guys, where we are heading.
Each one trying to prove “Me-Better-Bikelover-Than-you” and “My-Bike-Best”.

May be TVS had done many things FIRST TIME in India, may be Bajaj had introduced bigger capacity bikes before TVS, but just think guys, why they did this.
    Its because we demanded THAT.
The biking culture is flourishing in India, and bikers feel the need of bigger CC bikes.
If we would have always been satisfied with, say, 100CC, 125CC, 150CC types, the manufacturers would always be hearing money counters ringing.

Its because of our new needs, that the companies are developing new products, with whatever resources they have. Mind you, every Indian co. has taken cues from international bikes. Bajaj bikes are inspired (specially) from Suzuki (Japanese) designs whereas TVS takes cues from Ducati’s (European).
See, both have different cultures, you can’t and shouldn’t compare the two.
Nobody would feel comfortable to invest big in bigger bikes directly, Bajaj, seizing the moment took small (read 20CC) steps to reach 220CC, and if TVS is following it, why should WE argue. The more they will compete, the better for Indian Biker.

And this is the spirit which bounds we bike enthusiasts, no matter who lives in East, west, north or south.

Lastly, I would request all the users to post useful comments.

    Regards,

    Sunny

you fools tvs not coping bajaj.tvs came out with digital speedo and LED tail lamps, half chain case with O rings, twin pilot lamps on the headlamps, rear disc brake. rtr refresh lanched before pulser 200.then one more all bikes comes with 2 wheels, 1 engine,1 chase, and runs with petrol . you peoples try to say that all company copies THE GREAT BAJAJ

  30. 30 legend Feb 18th, 2010 at 2:34 pm

dnt follow bajaj’s engine types n in CC make som other features more n xtra in RTR its better.

  31. 31 kishore Feb 22nd, 2010 at 2:19 pm

its seriously dumb in confirming tat d pulsrs r d best…!!!! for instance compare d equal counterparts of both d apache n pulsr(i mean a 150 wit a 160 n a 180 wit 180). by all means apaches hv got more power n mileage which means v can enjoy power biking at an affordable price……..!!!!

  32. 32 Dirt Mar 1st, 2010 at 10:44 am

    TVS 180 NO MATCH
    ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!

  33. 33 Dirt Mar 1st, 2010 at 10:45 am

THEN THINK OF WHAT WOULD BE 220????

  34. 34 Aruek Mar 11th, 2010 at 7:49 pm

Proven satisfaction. In my country (Panamá) we have both RTR 160 and Pulsar 180… they are almost sold at same quantities, Pulsar is becoming more popular. BUT!… There is no way you can buy an used RTR160 no one wants to sell it, they are too happy with the bike to sell it. On the other hand, it is very very easy to get a Pulsar used, people just get bored of the bike. Pulsar180 top speed 115Km/hr… RTR160 135km/hr… one more thing TVS is more expensive than Bajaj over here. So…go figure. Sure TVS will satisfy you more than Bajaj.
