Best way to do a plastic comparison is most tata showrooms will have a fiat vehicle .

Take a look inside the plastic quality of Fiat & then check the Xenon or any Tata Vehicle.

I think Tata Motors Management has not done a QC Check on their suppliers for decades now else something like this shouldnt have escaped their notice

Went for Xenon Test drive today. The test drive vehicle was not available & the dealer said if I want to buy they can give me the display piece for a fresh run.

Xenon is a stunner from outside but a few minutes of smooth talking with dealer sales guy i already have his version of how many customers have seen & rejected this marvel.
Here are some inputs

1) Xenon interiors are terrible. The moment you open the door it smells of cheap plastic
2) Run your hand over the plastics and you can see & feel the cheapness of it
3) the glove box is terribly positioned & makes a "PHAT" sound when opened & closed
4) Xenon most colors are not available at dealers
5) SUV Sales hasn't picked up in india despite news reports that elections are lifting it up
6) the back seat is a bench with cushions. The dealer himself told me this
7) waiting period of 15 days & if you want canopy version it will take a month
8) there is soft canopy available (None on display)
9) Almost all essentials which are on display or in tata website is actually not standard fitment. So add up 1~1.5 lac extra to your budget to buy them.

If you end up buying this vehicle please be prepared to spend another 1 lac Rs on Standard equipment which are not standard along with the car (both versions of xenon are bare)

The pricelist of accessories as below
a) Rear Bumper --- 10930
b) Nudge Guard Full --- 14214
c) Nudge Guard Half Option Not available
d) Mats -- 1640
e) The Bed Liner (Luggage Area) --- 8900
f) Canopy -- 46980

*** THE CANOPY WEIGHS 600KG. Though officially weight was not available dealer told it takes 5 people to lift it and told me approx weight
g) Door Visor --- 2563
h) Roof Rack ---10000
i) Side Step----11675
j) Boot Lid ---- 36191
k) Full Floor Matting Vinyl --- 1801

So if you are planning to buy a Canopy version then be prepared to see vehicle kerb weight go up by 600kg and performance will take a beating along with mileage.

Looks like Xenon is still on tests, though featured in the motor shows. I see it here (Pimpri, Pune) running on roads, filled with water barrels. Malasian and African countries are the targets for the BAKKIE. This should be the first crew cab MUV in India.

Hi

The Double cab SUV looks good, and I guess it should definately feel like a SUV with Shift-on-the-fly all wheel wheel drive tech. Have seen it here on Pune roads near TATA Motors Pimpri. Just checking for the price tag. ????

Hi Peter Eyre !
U can trust tatas any model as they are fuel efficiant , robust, U can assume blindluy that any perticular vehicle which has successfully running on indian roads should be a good model , and by the way this vehicle is on the roads for more than 20 years now,
better u can got for tatas new zenon or sprint ,
that will be a good choice and i am sure it will definatly save u r money

Good Evening,

I am trying to source a suitable 4WD single cab pick up for rough/hot
conditions...I have spent some time in India and I am aware of the
rough conditions and reliability of the Tata range..........My client is
fixed on either the Toyota Landcruiser 70 Pickup or the Landrover
Defender single cab high capacity pickup etc.

I have an initial order of around 500 units and possible a second
order of around the same.....my only problem is to convince my client that
these vehicles are strong and robust for such conditions and also to
convince them that the unit price makes them a very attractive
alternative.

So can you send me some convincing evidence regarding the Tata
Talcoline Single Cab Diesel Pick-Up and more importantly the best unit price
for an initial order of 500 units on the basis of C&F Mombasa......I
would also need some strong evidence that such an order can be met along
with the time frame......alternatively maybe we could look at obtaining
quotas from other regions.....can you also advise if this unit is
available direct from the Port of Mumbai ex your Pune factory?

I also heard a rumour that Tata may be taking over Landrover in Africa and if that is the case maybe we could also discuss the Defender 110 single cab high capacity pickup...I heard that this may happen in the next couple of weeks??
 Yours sincerely
