Tata Indigo CS Pictorial Review – Interiors

1) Tata Indigo CS: You can no longer insert your finger between the panel gaps. Tata has improved the quality of Fit and finish seems a lot. Paint quality has improved and door trim looks nice. But yet there is a room for further improvement.

2) Tata Indigo CS: Once getting inside the car, new ‘T’ shaped stylish steering wheel will draw your attention. But i want to know why the horn knob is mounted so loosely. Also, there is lot of space inside the car yet we don’t find any effective usage. Absence of cubbyholes and bottle holders are evident.

3) Tata Indigo CS: Seems like yet another no frills car in the market. Features like power windows, electrically adjustable ORVM (mirrors), rear wiper and defogger are absent in the top end LS model. Also it seems like Tata has shared a lot of components with new Indica Dicor. Though power windows and other features are absent there are provisions which remind us their absence.

4) Tata Indigo CS: If you choose diesel you get charcoal black colour scheme(shown in the picture). You get contemporary beige interiors in petrol variant. Fabric lining in seats and door blends well with the black interiors and gives a luxury feel. Gear shift knob is leather wrapped in to p end variant

5) Tata Indigo CS: Seating 5 inside the car is tight especially over the tunnel. But seats are comfy and offers good support. Rear passengers also gets good visibility with wide glass area.

6) Tata Indigo CS: Safety features are minimal – seat belts, anti – submarine seats and child safety lock.Black white instrumentation is simple and numbers are easily readable. A digital clock is mounted on the centre of the dashboard.

7) Tata Indigo CS: Overall if you put space and fuel efficiency ahead of performance and styling test drive Indigo CS right now. Even you are not convinced enough, do have a look at the price. It comes at Rs 4,97,184 (on-road ,chennai for Indigo CS Diesel LS)

  1. Amit says:

    Dear all,

I’ve been owning a TATA Indigo since July’ 06 (DL3CAC6163- Sanya motors, Delhi)and believe me that it’s no magic. Though we all are certainly very proud of Mr. Ratan Tata, but I guess the quality of cars need to be upgarded to a large extent. Just to bring to your notice what all has been changed in warranty-
    1) engine part (Rs. 85,000)- took a month
    2) Power steering transmission
    3) Front Axil
    4) AC lines
    5) Clutch plates

And since now the warranty period has ended, I’m contemplating of selling this car and buying a small car instead, preferable that of Maruti. I hope that my rounds (twice in a month) to the service centre would end, atlast.

Give a serious thought before buying TATA if you belong to middle class like me and can’t afford a car before 4-5 years

  17. KayGee says:

i am planning for tata indigo cs.But i am confused about petrol or diesel version.

Petrol version runs on Gasonline (aka petrol)
Diesel version runs on HSD (aka Diesel)
… kidding aside..Tata vehicles are renowned for the Diesel vehicles especially Commercial vehicles. The popularity of TATA Indica/Ingigo Diesel version as a taxi across the length and breadth of India speaks volumes about its performance, fuel efficiency etc. While Diesl version is definitely more fuel efficient (goes up to 18 km/l) and has a better resale value, you do have the negatives like higher noise and vibration, more maintenance required as compared to petrol, sluggish pickup at low engine rpm etc. Petrol version has the advanctage of lower noise level, better pickup, more suitable for city driving. At the same time Tata petrol is not known for its petrol engines. In diesel version TATA offers two variants – the TDI (Turbo charged Diesel injection) version and DICOR ( which is TATAs version of the TDI engine.

  18. shankar says:

    Hi KayGee,

We own a CS 2009 TDI LX model bought in May09 for 5,00,000/-; You will have to get used to sluggish 2000rpm issue, lest it is VFM, gives around 13KMPL City/ 21KMPL on Highway (to PONDY). Convert all SOPS the dealer offers into cash discount. Do not buy anything from the dealer, buy from outside. Seat covers come from 600/- onwards, Cover the flooring with a PVC sheet 2500/-(useful in rains) And go for 3M underbody coating with anti rust (can be done only on a new car) 5000/-
Sony/TATA XPlod will be quoted by the dealer at 10000/- outside you can get it at 4000/- (sharing our exprience in chennai)
