At 2008 Delhi Auto Expo, Skoda launched the Fabia which went on to become a success story for the Czech maker. Skoda looks forward to replicate the same by launching Yeti at the 2010 Auto Expo. in Geneva. The new model is based on the design study of the same name that was introduced in 2005. Yeti uses the same Fabia-derived suspension, brakes and transmission. Engine choice will range from 1.6 to 2.0-litre petrols and include the VW Group’s 1.9-litre turbodiesel. Yeti may also come with diesel engine sourced from Octavia. Yeti is designed for both urban and leisure driving and features state-of-the-art technology that ensures excellent behaviour on the road and great riding qualities off-road. Yeti will pitched against the Scorpio,Safari and soon to be launched Tata’s IndiCruz. Yeti will be assembled as CKD at Skoda’s Aurangabad plant and hence you can expect the Yeti to come at a preimum over the locally manufactured Innova and Scorpio.

This should not cost more than 6 lakhs, as its similar to Fusion. They are trying to sell their junk to make themselves a premium brand. Though quality is good, their cars are just drivers cars without considering the passengers (legroom, comfort etc). These cars are the cheapest in Europe and most of them are Taxis. What they say is “Use it to the maximum and throw away after 4 years”.
check http://www.skoda.co.uk where taxes are high for imported cars (SKoda imported from chezch) for the prices Octavia cost only 11500 pounds which comes to around 8Lakh rupees. I think the taxes even if its 100% higher than in UK (keep in mind that there are assembled in India), it should not be costlier than 7-8 Lakhs. Hence strictly speaking, they are cheating Indians and Indians should not buy these cars and public should take up this issue to the court and sue these idiots….
Entirely agree with Hiran’s comments.
Most foreign companies are excellent at sales and marketing. They successfully hype-up, overposition and over price their products in Indian market as compared to international pricing.
Indian automotive brands like Tata Motors etc. need to be given a fair chance in the domestic market so that they too can become global players.
Let us make rational decisions and not get carried away by brand image.
Hiran has hit the nail on the head.Skoda would do well to teach their dealers a lesson in basic manners. If they no time nor patience to answer basic querys regarding the yeti through of knowledge or otherwise they have lost a potential yeti sale.
