I like 500 cc very much. but it is not oil cooled and lacks of rpm meter.

  5. 5 VJ Nov 6th, 2009 at 6:58 pm

I test drive the Bullet classic 500. Its was more then expected… simply a marvel.. dam dam powerful

The bikes comes with the normal catalytic converter exhaust and the new exhaust which is flashed in the picture is an add on to the bike (accessory) comes at a extra cost and has a better thump and feel.

As bound by the name “Classic” it carries a typical retro look, but when taken a closer look there is loads of differences from the old once… for the first time they have managed to change the wheel base and the tires that makes the bike little shorter.

2nd thing no amp meter!!! – in place of that you can find a ignition light “like a car” (i was a bit disappointed seeing that) long gone those day where u have to pamper the bike before starting…

3rd the kicker is different, handle is different and give a better feel and handling, i guess it good on long
    drives..

500 and 350 has respective defining color -aqua blue for 500 and gray for 350 .. black n maroon is common in both the models. i wish the gray comes with 500 too..

there are many more changes .. for which u have to see ur self..

i love the bike inspire of the change..

    Price is a big surprise
Classic 500 – on road Bangalore is RS 1.42 L!!!!!
    Classic 350 – Rs 1.10 L

I’ve made up my mind to pick up the 500C but waiting to see the reviews from the auto shows before i book..

    Thanks

    VJ

Man to be honest am really confused..I want 500 but i don’t know if its right..I just wanna see some reviews so probably will wait for some reviews ..
Until then am stuck up making my decision between 350 and 500 !!
both are hot and espl 500 is way too hot with a single seater even better

  7. 7 Sudarshan Nov 26th, 2009 at 1:22 pm

    @Andy:
I think you can blindly go for the 500 cc. It sports the new Electronic Fuel Injection and gives you frugal ride as compared to other 500 cc vehicles not compromising on power – it’s packed with enormous power; you will be thrilled with so much power – so use with caution!!. And 350 is the same Thunderbird engine. Go for a test ride of the new 500 and just book it!! Have fun and safe riding!!

i have seen classic 500 in webside and i already book from our nearest dealer on 9 nov2009 now dealer brought classic 500 for demo but i get socked that silence box which i have seen in net is bend but demo one is came striaght as old silencer box

  9. 9 Sri Dec 6th, 2009 at 6:49 pm

Ya wangyal, the silencer comes straight on purchase. You can however get the curved silencer, and fit it on ur bike once its registered. The straight silencer is because its got to be acceptable under Bharath III norms. :)

    Hi vicky,
i am planning to purchase Thunderbird by next week.I need know is if i can change the thunderbird silencer with the enfield classics bend silencer as i really loved it. also if i can change the tyres of thunderbird with the 500cc classics as i find thunderbirds tyres a little too big for my liking. will it affect the balance of the bike or the ground clearence, also i am not sure it smaller tyres will look cool on the thunderbird…?
please help me with your valuabe suggestion.

    Regards,
    Nitin Thakur.

bullet classic350 is not very different from thunderbird. main diference are 1. bend silencer.2. single spring seat.3. wheel size.the new model has no ampere meter, its very surprising. thanks

TODAY I VISITED THE RE SHOWROOM IN MY CITY.
    I TEST DRIVED ALL THE THREE i.e STD,CLASSIC 350 500,THUNDERBIRD.
I FELT CLAASIC 350 WAS A GOOD ONE BECAUSE IT GIVES US CLASSIC LOOKS AS WELL AS IT HAS A ECONOMIC FUEL CONSUMPTION AS COMPARED TO CLASSIC 500……NO DOUBT 500 IS AT ITS BEST WHEN NOT THINKING OF MILEAGE……..I HV BOOKED A CLASSIC

  18. 18 Shiva Mar 26th, 2010 at 10:23 pm

    How to book it?

  19. 19 Ganesh Apr 12th, 2010 at 10:55 pm

one of my friend advised me that, model start from royal enfield thunder bird are making a vibrational noise in engine during ideal position of the bullet. whether the same problem is occurring in 2009 Classic 500CC??

  20. 20 sanfer Apr 13th, 2010 at 1:34 pm

    Friends,
    Greetings from Nepal !
I have been riding different Bullets for some years now and yesterday I went to checkout the classics in Kathmandu and found out that the 350 was somewhat like the Electra 350 5S I already have except for its new classic looks – technically the same old carburetor which makes it the same old Bullet you have after a week or riding…however the 500 Classic is ‘the bike’ if you can afford it as apart from its lovely manly looks it is technically in comparison with Bikes like Triumph 800, Harleys, BMWs etc (ofcourse these Bikes have some features which the Classic 500 does not have but Classic has a Retro look and a cheaper price tag )…If you ask me there is no point putting your money into the Classic 350 as you will always look with greedy eyes whenever a 500 Classic passes by due to the following facts :
*Better Noise – it is really manly guys
    *High Speed – 350 can’t catch it
*Better Fuel consumption – I have confirmed reports from riders that 500 Classic gave them an average of about 35-40 Kmpl in Kathmandu’s heavy traffic…so you can’t ask for more
*Very less maintenance compared to the 350 .

Although the Bikes are expensive here due to high import duty ( Classic 500 sells for NRs 454K which is equivalent to INR 285K in comparison to 350C which sells for only NRs 356K = INR 230K still guys want the 500 due to its manly looks)

I have booked the Blue one so that I get a feeling of changing the bike (currently I have a Black Electra) and I plan to put a new cruiser (wider) handle for a better grip and torque, a small side box to give it a cruiser look, high back viewing mirrors and may be tubeless tyres…I know this bike is really going to be a looker guys…I am happy with the discoveries I did yesterday after test riding these both bikes for about an hour….and I hope it answers your some questions as well.

Thanks and Happy Enfield Riding !!

Go for classic 500.The power and thump is awesome…Best thing about these classic bikes are that they are all loaded with tubleless tyres…most welcomed gesture for long distance cruising.
