1) Bullet’s new avatar will be out soon! Yes, Royal Enfield’s first engine with integrated gearbox is ready. In Indian context the 350cc Thunderbird will be fitted with this UCE (Unit Constructed Engine) or Integrated engine. But no Fuel Injection(FI) for Indian market atleast for now. Royal Enfield makes use of twin spark in the new engine to achieve better fuel efficiency but the company claims the usage and application of the technology is entirely different from TVS and Bajaj. Royal Enfield also says Thunderbird Twinspark’s new engine will be trouble free, it will also inherit the original Royal Enfield engine architecture. Here’s the Royal Enfield Thunderbird Twinspark advertisement

2) Royal Enfield’s Thunderbird Twinspark UCE would have lesser friction and wear-and-tear in mechanical parts of the engine, thus the Bullet’s new engine will have superior performance. The integrated engine or unit construction engine(UCE) is also expected to slightly reduce the metal cost for Royal Enfield.

3) Currently, Thunderbird model is powered by a lean-burn engine. TBTS (Thunderbird Twin Spark) model will launched soon. Royal Enfield may phase out the existing Thunderbird LB or keep it, company’s decision will be based on the customer response.

4) Royal Enfield is also working on a integrated engine with Fuel Injection technology for the export market. Royal Enfield is also working on a new design with the help of an independent design studio in UK. Probably next year, Indian market will also receive newly styled products from Royal Enfield.

5) Royal Enfield has invested around Rs50 crore for the new engines and designs. Royal Enfield hopes to lure new customers apart from the loyal Royal Enfield customers with the new products.

My cousin owns a 70′s model Bullet Standard
The standard is a real macho bike when compared to this new baby from Enfield
God know’s if this baby can handle the rugged Indian roads as its ancestors

  3. Rajendra says:

That’s a good question conidering that puny 100cc bikes mange to survive

whatever you say about new engines or better perfomance and all that crape dude nothing is better than the original std 350 man the new bikes are more like namesake bullets
i have rode every bullet model in india and i have always felt that only the machismo 500 and the std 350 feels like bullet
the other models are for pussies who can take the responsibility of owning a bullet and want a quiet smooth ride

  7. david says:

    comments about its ugly
i get that comment about every bike i buy
because i buy basic daily drivers
    like a 1976 bmw r60/6
a 2002 mz rt125 comment from others toooo small
so i guess i will just have to wait and see
what they sell here in the united states in 2009 or 2010
as i want a reliable daily driver that does not kill my pocket
    at the gas pump
when a bike cost me a lot for parts or gas then its ugly
    dave

  14. Gaurav says:

Hi .i recently purchased the thunderbird in january and now bike has run 2200 kms…oil leaks….fuel efficiencyy is also very low around 34……loosening of partsof bike,,,,vibration too much…exceedin than the bullet….i contacted the showroom mechanics for the problems…regarding noise of the engine..they just say it;s normal…but it;s isn;t.they don;t know anythin about this engine…..on company.s site they say that hydraulic tappets reduce noise..but it;s makin noise like that of a diesel engine…it doesn;t even hear like a petrol bike…if any one could have driven old taurus bullet diesel could see the resembelance except that was smoot…i feel my money;s got wasted…better had bought a standard or electra…bullet…or go for karizma or pulsar 220…. this advice is to everyone who wants to buy a thunderbird twinspark

people are sayin that most of the bikes have been sold through internet publicity..now i will post on the net the real problems I;m facing….

Thanx for your CHEAP .Slow and tiresome Service of the royal enfield`..

    very Bad experience …

  15. vasanth says:

hi i own a thunder bird 2004 model i waiting for fuel injection model when it abailable in indian market and howmuchits price??????

  16. remember guys……..standard model is standard no model can beat it engine its engine and chasis and all…..
royal enfield engineers should not change or modify the basic standard model(4-s, 350cc and 500cc) i think the new one engine(twin-spark) is nothing if compare with old one. i have purchased electra-5s that is also modified it is also not upto the mark.
    so standard is the best

  21. Sanjay Bidani says:

Hi guys, I had bought this dream bike almost 6 weeks back and driven about 1000KMs only as need of the engine to smoothen piston working. I love the mellow down thump of Thunderbird and feel like a king on this bike. Yes initially leakage problem was there but been rectified by their engineers. In real sense slogan stands for this brand only i.e. Neighbours Envy Owners Pride……..as far as average is concern around 38KMS per KM I am geting…..not to forget first service is due now….very very glad to get this super dynamic bike……sanjay Bidani

  27. bulleteer says:

    Guys lmme tell u smthing..

it is a good bike with all problems like..oil leakage..front shocker problem..nd sounds…nd vibs…but, tell u what…evry single bikes gt these kinda issues..if u see the hero honda bikes, yamaha,TVS an all, i prev had a hero honda hunk..it too dd hv oil leaks nd vibs nd shohabsorber probs, …..i mean…… where the hell in India u can find a bike with no such kinda probs….look at the roads….i bet even Hearly will face such problems 1nce it flourishes in the Indian Market..!!:)

moreover, all u guys keep sain that Std.model was better it was..no Qtn abt it…but it also had evn more problems thn the TBTS..thats wht my 10 yrs Bull reaserch tells me..u dnt believe…find out…!!
    Q-(How.??)
A- vist the bullet service station or the on road garages…u will see the..u ll find more Std model thn TBTS and new Classic.:s

now, if u say on the basis on longivity..thn i ll say that evry thing tht can b tkn a good care of can last for days..so, dont jst start livin on wht others say, jst creats complications nothin more..!!

i gt a TBTS an it gt all these probs that i mentioned..so what, if it was a Std model, wld i hv thought the same..!!

  28. bulleteer says:

The additional information is always keep in mind….DO NOT RIDE IT LIKE PULSARs or a Sport bike..for if u do it ll cause oil leakage..and that is confirm….!!

    Ride it smoothly..shift gears as per speed…1st-0-5 / 2nd-6-15 / 3rd-15-30 / 4th-30-45 / thn carry on rest in 5th….for a good milage….!!

while going in top gear, dont suddenly change down and give instant throttle (like Pulsar)..give a sec or 2 to stabelise thn throttle….gives way to good milage/engine stays good

avoid clutch as much as u can ,and only apply it before it starts jerking….clutch plate stays as good as new.

dont change gears frequently….engine gets heatedup….while in crowded places-shift to 2nd gear and do not repeat do not use clutch until necessary….saves the clutch cable..

do not lose your heart for engine leaks of fork leaks or any other thing….always remember leakage is the Birthright for all bullets….so ?it and enjoy it, cause not all gets the chance to ride a bull.
