Maruti Suzuki’s new Alto – A-star

Recently we shown you our artisitic impression on Maruti Suzuki A-star but today we have few more special items in our menu. Here are two photos of new A-star which will be launched in India during diwali. But before that Maruti Suzuki’s A-star will be showcased at the upcoming Paris auto show in early October. The A-star will replace the Alto in european markets and in India it will co-exist with Alto and Wagon-R. The new car will be called as alto in europe and A-star in india
Maruti Suzuki A-star: Though the car is not as exciting as the concept car it looks great in the photos. The high bonnet line, vertically stacked headlamp cluster, low slung grille, neatly stacked fog lamps and four spoke alloy wheel adds chracter to the A-star. The high roof line tells that we can expect a roomy hatch from the alto maker. The upswept shoulder line moves upward near the C-pillar which means lesser glass area for the A-star’s rear passengers. Overall the styling is eye pleasing and will lure fair sex for sure.
Maruti Suzuki A-star: The A-star will be powered by a 1L K-series engine developing 65bhp. The new engine will give Alto or A-star customer more happiness with the much better fuel economy. This family car will feature lively cabin treatment and it will come with lots of comfort features and stylish features. The novel tachometer that first seen on the splash will make into the A-star. The rev counter will sit on top of the dashboard in its own individual housing. A-star will be price between Rs3-4 lakhs and there will be no diesel option atleat till the end of 2009. Looking for a small car! wait for two more months, the i10 killer is ready!

Can you tell me around what time u will launch this model on domestic roads.. i m despirately waiting for it
it will sport 1000cc engine but may not have abs and edb.
16-18kmpl should be average.maruti should provide a crdi or multijet version

I am intrested to know, is this a proved engine or going to take a test ride on indian roads before going to be sieged in design.Why i am asking is if it suits me can i book without looking into performence of the engine.
In comparison, can you tell me is it spacious than wagonR, what could be the milage.what is your rating with wagon R/i10.

I have an Alto and still feel lookwise the old one is better…I doubt about A Star repeating Alto’s success in sales and service.

I WAS ABOUT TO GO FOR I10. BUT AFTER SEEING THE ALTO A-STAR AM SURE TO GO FOR IT. NEVER MIND OF WAITING FOR TWO MONTHS.PLS LET ME KNOW THE MILEAGE.
This one looks like a cheap ‘toy’ car to me. The original A-Star concept was much more trendy, sporty and muscular! It had some superb design features like broader and full-grill bumpers, sharper side skirts, dual tone headlights, futuristic side mirrors, better alloy wheels, top-class tinted glasses, classy door locks. Some other features hidden over here include a superb dashboard with digital speedometer and touch screen LCD controls, neon illuminated interiors, stylish taillights and sexy tiny antenna at the back of the car(not the long and ugly one shown over here), all this and much more…
I had expected a lot more than this from the commercial version, if not the concept itself. This can be considered as an upgrade to Maruti’s existing line-up, but this is ‘no’ new revolutionary car. I would consider it an insult to the original design. This has failed to impress me!

It sucks as compared to its concept design. I was very excited about A-star since i saw it concept design. But looking at the real design , it looks like a modified i10. I am very disappointed. Concept design was so good and futuristic.
