Maruti Suzuki will launch a swift with definite boot , yes the new esteem i.e swift sedan will hit the showrooms in in January – Febraury 2008. The new Swift sedan is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel engine variants. For the diesel option, Maruti may pick the 1.3L DDIS engine which currently powers the swift hatch back to power the new swift sedan. Swift sedan will be positioned as a practical family car(no sporty ) a new wider rear section will facilitate that. The upcoming swift sedan may replace (or) complement the esteem(if it is launched only on diesel version). Swift in its three box avtaar(sedan) will take on the upcoming next generation Indigo and is expected to be priced around Rs5.5 lakh. Maruti’s earlier bid to capture the diesel market with the esteem diesel ended in a failure node. But the esteem’s petrol model still holds some grip – even after 13years of its debut 6,000 units of esteem is sold in April-July period.

though the hatchback could do with a little extra boot …this is certainly not the solution…horrible.
The rear heavy swift is already under criticism. maruti will be making a blunder by launching this ugly duckling in India at least, where people are anyways conservative.
I would rather suggest the 1.6 litre sport version, already available in certain markets…with ford ikon and fiat palio sport… top of mind…being cult favorites . I reccon the time for a gass guzzler that offers a great drive is a good proposition..at leat if they get the TA right and don’t expect large volumes…it would certainly help them take the image of maruti from sasta, sundar, tikau to a slightly more aspirational level…. I for one would certainly pick one up…provided they improve the handling and suspensions.

Economictimes reported, “We will be launching the Swift Sedan shortly.” The new sedan will be priced lower than the SX4 and is touted to come in two variants, a new-generation 1.3-litre multi–jet diesel engine and in a 1.3-litre petrol variant. These engine may also power the Maruti’s Jimny(will replace gypsy). Production of the Esteem is almost stopped. “The production of the Esteem is going to continue for the next 3-4 months. But Esteem owners can rest easy, as we would continue to provide service and spare parts to support the model, as always done in the past with other models that have been phased out.”

Hey, the pics a fake. Probably done in Photoshop. There is no way a car manufactrer will roll out a sedan with the dicky (back) looking like a swift. No one would wanna buy it, unless the company selling it maybe put in flying wings to the car.

Check the shadow just behind the rear wheels. Looks a bit choppy and doesn’t match with shadows which can be elsewhere, which means this is photoshopped.

Actually the white one does not look that bad at all. Unlike indigo which looks like indica + boot. this is definitely well integrated with the body. Hopefully this gives extreme reliability and sense of deja vu in the minds of buyers…..

Yes the white one does look better, definitely better than the TATA Indigo no matter how much you try to facelift the Indigo it will always remain the same. Rear lights of dezire are inspired from the Toyota yaris sedan though bit bigger not bad at all… all have their own point of views.

I have bee regurarly checking the net for last few months for swift sedan,the red one in the first photo is a photoshop magic which was uploaded a long back ago.what i heard from realiable source is that swift sedan(dezire) looks good.The white one in the second photo – inside maruti’ one of the manesar plant is actually the rear of swift and it looks good which is not at all a streach of swift.It comes with few changes in the front also(not fully) and prices between 5 to 6.5 lack.My friends dont get panic ,after all it is a replacement for esteem and should look good!!!

guys… don’t go by these pictures .. the red one is fake.. i have seen the car in person and it’s way better looking…. interiors are better than the Swift hatchback and more spacious as well… the car will be priced in the range of 6 – 7 lacs on road… i will be getting a test drive this weekend

Looks very muscular…and has class…Maruti-Suzuki is definitely tough competitor to beat as they align to people’s taste and re able to come out with many models to suit the individual needs.
The famous Bentley curves are used for the rear design, except the rear lip. If they can change the inclination degree of either the rear glass (increasee) or the front glass (make it more inclined) this should get a look of a mini limousine variant.
Anyhow wishes for a succesful launch and let the dzire of the people decide the fate of this model.

Hey guys….I am proud to say that i’ve booked my swift dZire.
Yes,I agree that it was not that impressing when i saw the dZire at a maruti Yard days before that was lauched.It was a red one,not polished yes and my all eyes were at white sx4.
BUt once it was launched and whn i took the test drive on a white swift dZire..gossh..!!..i was totally impressed…i drove the diesel version and power it gave me was awesome.ALthough i’ve booked the petrol version the diesel engine really impressed me.
The interiors are smashing for an A3 sedan and the price thats where maruti-suzuki shows how brillian they are with the indian market rather with the indian customers.
So if u r thinking to book one…i should say that u r jus wasting the time by thinking as every second goes u r coming down n d line to get the best mid segment sedan india has ever seen.
So guys don waste time in thinkin…jus do it..nd hav the fun of driving a btfl sedan which has got the muscle looks f swift nd the beauty of a sedan…

hey u should hav some modifications to the front too along with the back……..unlike the back which is much beautiful the front looks much more very dumb all the same
I don’t think so. A chrome grill has been added to the front. Although the shape is the same. But then since it is based on the Swift platform, i don’t think it would have been wise to change the shape completely. The look is great and more attractive part is it’s interior features.
It’s ugly car and didn’t treated as sedan. This is a stretched hatchback. Go for a pure sedan. I’ve seen this and it looks like sample of sedan a tiny box.
It is a good looking sedan. Just because maruti has extended this on swift platform doesn’t mean that it is not a sedan.
