Honda’s 2008 small car the JAZZ

1) Honda is yet to officially unveil its next generation Jazz in the upcoming Tokyo Motor show but as usual pictures are already out.  Honda’s Jazz is known as ‘Fit’ in Japan.  This JAZZ will be the Honda’s small car for India to take on  upcomingggggg  Skoda’s Fabia, Volkswagen polo bluemotion, and Toyota’s small car.  Honda’s Jazz and Skoda Fabia are expected to be priced around Rs6 lakhs.  Hence all these small cars will be positioned above the  B+(Maruti swift) segment.

2) The 1.3 liter Jazz’s i-VTEC engine puts out a nice 100 PS at 6,000rpm and 127Nm of torque at 4,800rpm, while the 1.5 liter Jazz’s i-VTEC engine makes 120 PS at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,800rpm. For Japan, a continuously variable transmission is standard, powering with the front or optionally all four wheels. But all these are unlikely for India(as petrol mills only below 1200cc enjoys tax concession), the indian jazz will be powered by a 1.2 litre engine.A new diesel unit and a hybrid unit may also join the jazz lineup.

3)Jazz is not just a hatchback version of city, it is more upmarket. Jazz share the seats with accord and its steering wheel resembles civic. Jazz is stylish and embellish typical Honda design – sharp lines and central bonnet ridge. Honda Jazz sharp headlamps supplements thesteeply raked windscreen but the front grille resembles the CR-V. Alloy wheels and ellipsoidal glass area decorates the Jazz side. Similar to other sporty hatchback, the curved roof merges with the smaller rear glass area. Jazz taillamp is the pure attraction it blends with the rear. Jazz’s tail gate is mounted in the centre and is wide.

4)   Jazz is roomy just not because of well known Honda’s clever packaging but also through its generous dimensions. Honda’s Jazz is 3900mm longer(qualifyies to avail the tax benefit), 1695mm wider and has a 2500mm longer wheelbase which means a comfortable living space inside the hatchback. Also Jazz features a massive 400-litre boot. Suspension is by McPherson struts up front and torsion beam at the rear. Honda’s Jazz is well known for its groundbreaking central fuel tank which ensures a flat floor cabin(revised in the new jazz to provide more rear headroom) and the magic cinema-style seats – a clever floding five-seat layout,  which allows owners to expand the load area at the pull of a single lever.  Comfy Jazz will suit your space needs.

5) The Jazz will go on sale in Japan in January ’08, in India it is likely to be some time after the first quarter of 2008. Jazz styling, flexibility and the economy is wowed  by customers all over the world(20 lakhs jazz sold over 115 countries). Honda hopes to generate a similar wave in India.

WILL THE JAZZ BE AVAILABLE IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION MODE ? WILL IT BE AVAILABLE WITH MORE POWERFUL ENGINES TO CHOOSE FROM AS IN HONDA-CITY? IF YES, WHAT WOULD BE THE TENTATIVE PRICE SLAB ? AND PLEASE, DON’T MAKE THE INTERIOR BEIGE COLOUR THE ONLY OPTION IN THIS CAR AS IN CITY-V-TEC OR CIVIC. BEIGE INTERIORS GIVES A RICH LOOK BUT IT IS NOT PRACTICAL IN INDIA. GETS DIRTY VERY SOON BECAUSE OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.

comparing to other cars in this segment, this is the best car i’ve ever seen, when i was living in Japan my neighbour Mr.Yamamoto had this beautiful car & drove to Komatsu to Osaka every week thrice for business trips. He had no second thoughts of changing any car in the near future.it has the best navigation panel like BMW.

i am impressed with the honda jazz.kindly let me know which will be a better buy honda jazz or hyundayi i20

  15. 15 Sureshkar Oct 9th, 2008 at 10:04 am

    Ramesh,

You’ll have to wait till July 2009 for the Jazz. i20 will be on the roads by Nov 2008.

On-road price difference is likely to be around Rs 1 lakh min. But the features are likely to match or may be even better for the i20.

Jazz should be a techically superior vehicle. It scores on the styling too.

If you prefer brand name to value for money, go for the Jazz. Else i20 should be your choice.

Since both Hyundai i10(Kuppa)& Chevy UVA been there for a while so is the Swift & today’s launched A Star (Suzuki), It’s high time HONDA JAZZ reveals it’s Prices & Features of JAZZ. What Price & by when will this product B there in the Market. If HONDA does not give this input then they will miss the boat as several people are holding on to their decisions on Buying the Hatchback.

The above info is needed on an urgent basis.

Navin is absolutely right. Many people including myself aRE WAITING FOR jAZZ to hit road. If the delay is endless then us lot may take the Uva bait which is very appealing with the price cuts and discounts. Even Splash is to be launched soon which is equally appealing.

I saw the i20 last week at hyundai plant, it had a great shape, had lots of options too. I think it will be on par with the Jazz.

    Dear Friends
    Hi
Can any one please tell me when Honda Jazz is coming.I was really about to purchase the Fabia Skoda 1.2 the petrol version but some of my friend told me that this vehicle is facing the problem of spare parts which r not readilly available as and when required. There is a waitingof 2 to 3 months. Also its 3 cylinder engine is going to be phased out shortly. The other problem is that Skoda excels only in their diesel models where as the honda excelsin petrol models. So I just thought of waiting for the Honda Jazz. Is my decision right. Please giveme the suggestions.

    Hi Richu..

You are right and its worth wait..since u r planning for a pertol. Honda Jazz/fit is the right choice. if you can wait for June wait for Honda.. i head some news some where that they are plaining for a early launch in march for booking but deliver later in june.. this is due to stiff competition from i20/GP

wats the price macha of jazz

  28. 28 ashvin Jun 16th, 2009 at 12:52 pm

all those who support the high price are just out for a ego trip, they might even buy the car just to prove that they have got money. And just becoz they buy it does not mean that the car is superbly advanced. As far as refinement of the engine, I don’t think that the technology is at par with rocket science. So the premium should not be in lakhs, but in just a few thousands. Honda feels that everything they come out with is gold, well there are customers who buy Honda products rant about how other cars are not as freakin refined as Honda.seriously who cares, hondas dont give alloy wheels, no climate control, which are available even in the Fiat linea.Honda cars are extremely expensive to maintain, mileage is just about average, so what the hell is all this best technology rant about from Honda.
