    check this out…..they ve got some pics of new pulsar 220 in red and blue shade…. if priced aggressively around 70000.00, the new pulsar 220 is gonna be instant hit and help bajaj india in resuming falling sales…..

  2. Raghavan.N says:

    21 bhp without EFI and a huge reduction in price.Looks like Bajaj have still managed to extract more power despite removing the ECU unit.

  3. Vicky says:

    Bajaj try the same price reduce formula to its 125 XCD….and looks what XCD flop and now again bajaj is going back to 100cc..

  4. Rajesh says:

    @Vicky

    if you can’t appreciate just SHUT UP

    go and take the test ride of the bike before you comment, or just take a chill pill

  5. Vicky says:

    @rajesh

    this is the truth yaar…think with extra chill pill

  6. Jas says:

    Read the road test at the link below.

  7. Rajesh says:

    @Vicky

    keep thinking, let us me do the real riding :-)

  8. Nirmal says:

    Ha ha ha… luks like the R15 has made bajaj to wake up and start runnin ;)

    But why should they downgrade to caburettor ?? makes no sense…

    Also, it may have touched 144 kmph, but i seriouslty doubt the stability of the bike
    would it be as good as that of the R15 with the deltaboc frame ????

  9. Motorbeam says:

    I expected Bajaj to give around 24bhp, bhp – too much is never enough :)

  10. chandan says:

    amazing bike….good work vicky…..is that the end of hero honda Karizma??

  11. Burnyourfuel says:

    Will Bajaj Gave A Dent Compared To R15 / FZ16 Due To Its Competitive Price?

    Bajaj Did A Great Job!

  12. [...] with the launch of new Pulsar 220cc, Bajaj Auto has announced the launch of the DTS-SI version 2.0 engine. Bajaj claims that the engine [...]

  13. Maximus says:

    lot more Features than the 17 bhp Karizma at the same price.
    the new Pusar 220 comes with

    Tubeless tyres
    Rear Disc Brake
    Projector Headlamps
    Clip On Handlebars
    Split Seat
    21 bhp

    wow! the karizma looks so outdated

    the R15 looks horrendously overpriced by 30000 rs and underpowered at 17 bhp and 130 kph top speed. its got just that full fairing for poser boys.

    the new pulsar 220 has better handling due to a improved chassis and soft compund tyres. top speed is over 140 kph

  14. Raghavan.N says:

    70K is the ex-showroom price for Delhi.I guess it will cost around 76-77K ex-showroom Mumbai,roughly the same price as ZMA R.But it will be more VFM compared to ZMA R.
    R15 isn’t overpriced considering Yamaha have used the deltabox frame and pressed steel instead of cheap plastics like Honda.

  15. Vicky says:

    @maximus point “he R15 looks horrendously overpriced by 30000 rs”

    Don’t think R15 is overpriced…it has
    Liquid-cooled
    DiASil Cylinder
    Fuel Injection
    Deltabox Frame
    Linked type Monocross suspension

    Does any other Bike in our Country is giving this features…

  16. KIMI says:

    @maximus
    No other bike in the 150cc segment delivers 17BHP
    Bajaj can achieve it only in their dreams

  17. Rajesh says:

    @Vicky & Kimi

    as far as being the performance king is concerned, the new pulsar 220 dtsi is the BOSS. no doubt over that.

  18. Vicky says:

    @rajesh

    Bike hasn’t in market…and how come it be a BOSS…Anyhow, comparing with R15 is useless..R15 is far ahead in terms of quality they are giving and of course the features as i mentioned above. Tell me any other bike matches the same features specially Bajaj

  19. Vicky says:

    Bajaj is saying is an Advance version of p220..how come it is adbvace, when they remove Fi unit….

    Advance is when if carb version added with Fi unit..

  20. Rajesh says:

    @ Vicky

    for our kind information the Fi version of P220 will continue to co-exist along with this new carbureted version. let the people decide what to choose from.

    all publications which have got test ride of the new p220 are unanimously stating that the new p220 dtsi is the BOSS in performance. it is the Fastest Indian Bike without any doubt.

  21. Crayoner says:

    Just Imagine the price difference because of the same..earlier it was 90k on raod n now it will be available in merely 76-78k. its a huge decrease in price. I hope it will boom its sale also.

  22. Sunil says:

    of course the bike apart from becoming the fastest in India has also become a very good value for money proposition.

    even the fuel injected cbf stunner from honda is about 15000 rs more than its carbureted variant.

    Way to go Bajaj, power to the people

  23. hemant says:

    I hope this would definatly give a good pump in p220 sales.As their Fi version will co-exist with the cerb it will give customes choice.but as we getting to hear and see that p200 also will get fairing and rear disc so what will be the diff in p220 and p200? only 20cc

  24. SANDEEP says:

    What could be the fuel efficiency of this bike

    20 or 25 kmpl :P ?

  25. Sunil says:

    @Hemant,

    the Pulsar 200 is probably getting out of production. with the same price as the Pulsar 200, the Pulsar 220 dtsi is now available.

    the current 200 owners can rejoice that their bikes will retain exclusivity

  26. Maximus says:

    Hail the King of Performance bikes in India.
    Hail the Fastest Indian Bike of 2009

  27. Deepak says:

    guys what about the average of the bike …..
    is it similar to previous 220 or any variation

  28. Maximus says:

    the P220 DTSi should deliver between 35-40 kmpl under normal riding style

  29. Raghavan.N says:

    p220 DTS-Fi cost 85K(ex-showroom Mumbai) while the DTS-i version costs 77K(ex-showroom Mumbai).Chances are likely that p200 will get DTS-Fi and the DTS-i version will be phased out.Current p200 costs 77K OTR Mumbai.So people will have the option of choosing between 220 DTS-i and 200 DTS-Fi.

  30. Maximus says:

    P200 is being phased out since the new P220 DTSI comes at almost its same price.

    The P220 fuel injected DTS-FI will be available at the same old price (10k more than the P220 DTSI) for customers who prefer to buy the fuel injected model

  31. Yashwant says:

    The pulsar 220 is a steal considering the price at which they are offering the product. The onroad price in Delhi is Rs 74,495.

    Bajaj has really sorted out the handling of the bike now which was a issue earlier.

    Apart from from introducing a carb instead of FI a lot more tuning has gone into the product to achieve 21bhp and a top speed of 144kmph.

    Kudos to Bajaj for offering a affordable far superior home grown product better than the Japanese.

    Proud to be a Indian………

  32. Sudhindra says:

    I am unable to understand why people think from heart rather brains. Why is that comparision R15 with 220DTSi. They cater to totally different segments. R15 is for quality concisious b’se it comes with goodies which are not comparable to 220DTSi. At the same time 220DTSi is targeting customers who want power but not willing to spend extra rupee.

  33. santosh shaw says:

    im love speed so i m wating & my wating is campleet

  34. Maximus says:

    Majority of guys who buy the R15 buy it because they can’t buy a full faired super bike in their life. R15 buyers are POSER BOYS.
    REMOVE THE FULL FAIRING FROM THE R15 AND LETS SEE IS THE R15 CONTINUES TO SELL.

    Why doesn’t the ALBA/CRUX/GLADIATOR sell for its quality? is it that bad? the reality is that it is the poser image that sells the R15 and FZ NOT because of quality.

    The RATIONAL buyers will definitely go for the Pulsar 220 dtsi. Best poerformance at unbeatable price.

  35. sriram says:

    when will the new karizma beat out all the Indian power bikes

  36. Jeeshan says:

    Agreed with maximus about the r15, but that bike is still good in terms of engine refinement but not a value for money. Apart from spending over a lakh on r15 there’s a lot of money spent on maintenance ,plus we r treating a (oldy vixion) 150cc bike as a sports bike just because of the name ,fairing and the company.

    liked the new bike from bajaj, p220 dtsi is surely a value for money product if otr pricing is concerned.

    plus i think going out for long tours would be hassle free because of the absence of ecu gizmo which makes the mechanics scratch their heads.
    will book one soon, black looks killer isn’t it ?

    keep it bajaj.

  37. vishal says:

    cm smbdy tell me the mileage of new pulsar 220

  38. rohan chettri says:

    pulsar is the best and will always be the king of the road…undoubtedly….thanks a lot to the bajaj family for bringing out the stunning 220 dtsi at an unbelieveable price….and that to at the right time……….hail pulsar…”KING OF THE INDIAN BIKES”

  40. Honey says:

    hey!!! can u just tell me the price of this bike in m.p region.

  41. I, being a motorcycle expart can’t fully be agreed with Maximus. But I possess my due respect to Maximus and other visitors.
    I have gon through YAMAHA YZF R15, BAJAJ PULSAR 220 DTSFi and 220 DTSi models for quite a long, over 200,000 Kms for last couple of years. Even I have a Pulsar 220 DTSi at my stable along with 1year old R15. Comparing these two is totally childish… A civilian rider requesting speed, stability and traffic safety has no count with DiASiL Cylinder, deltabox frame, or Monocross suspension, sensored Fi engine with liquid cooling mechanism or BHP. You want top speed, riding safety and handling. YAMAHA YZF R15 is miles ahead in these aspects as following:
    1. Top Speed 147Km/H (I achieved myself with excellent stability, displayed by an ANALOGUE speedo fitted with it from Hero Honda Karizma at NH2 at neutral wind support and neutral slope, and YOU-TUBE video supported fact shows the top speed is 148 – 1 km more than my achievement). It is not 130Km/H, really not! Drive by your own and see.
    2. Low center of gravity, narrower tires and aerodynamic stability (to achieve it I had to lean forward over the fuel tank) with More weight BHP ratio (120KG Curb Wt, 17 BHP Vs 151KG 21 BHP) makes 132 Km/H (2Km/H more than your announce) even when I seat tall straight with my 6ft body over the 1077mm R15.
    3. I think I GOT 138Km/H with my 2058 Km OLD Pulsar 220 DTSi with the same analogue speedo from ZMA, at neutral slope and neutral wind, (on the same day); I don’t know whether it is for adjusted digital speedo or anything else, the reading easilyreaches over 140 with my DIGI speedo On at the fastest INDIAN (the narrower tire concept was first introduced with R15, and initially protested by unaware riders). Even the Fi version of 220 gives better power delivery with bigger tire.
    4. The fairings are not for gate-up only, Maximus! If you remove the fairings, the R15 will not be able to provide the same top speed and stability, they are for aerodynamic support and reduction of air resistance, not to POSE!
    5. With gladiator Type RS you can compete with HONDA UNICORN (150 cc 13.3 BHP) and Pulsar (150 cc 13.5 BHP) due to less weight and aerodynamic cowls. ALBA, CRUX and G5 are from 106 cc SEGMENT and I can say at this particular region of the country, they collectively are seen more frequently on the road than platina, stunner, SUZUKI ZEUS, Splendor plus, and super splendor. Even they can challenge BAJAJ DISCOVEr as far as the sales are concerned. Only ahead are BAJAJ XCD 125 and 135 versions. If you are a speed lover then you can have GLADIATOR to beat all 135cc bikes with ease.
    Thank you for reading.

  42. XCD is definitely a good motorcycle with great mileage and fantastic gate up.
    I am not against BAJAJ but the company really disappoints me in terms of safety. Most Platina and XCD comes for service with a big scratch over their headlight visor (125 cc version). I personally think 135cc DTS-Si model of BAJAJ XCD imparts better stability.
    If a INDIAN company achieves the perfection of YAMAHA (R15, a storehouse of RAW technology) in terms of finishing and durability, safety and power, handling and maintenance; then none will be happier than me. But to reach it BAJAJ have to be the Hardiest, most intelligent and technologically more superior INDIAN (the removal of Fi system is not a good strategy after all) and the fastest surname (150cc with 220cc combusting chamber volume has been considered under same tabulation! Unbelievable!! Is it really the fastest? – see my previous post) alone will not suffice…
