The bike manufacturer Yamaha has introduced its new 125cc commuter motorcycle known to be Saluto in Indian automobile market. The price of Yamaha Saluto 125 is really affordable with the cost of Rs.52,000. This light weight bike would compete against its similar other bikes such as Yamaha SS125, Bajaj Discover 125M, Honda CB Shine and Hero Super Splendor.

Design and Style


The design and style of Yamaha Saluto 125 is really awesome and it is completely different from the ground up. It comes with a new front fairing, fresh fuel tank and good looking side panels allows the bike to be very unique compared with some other bikes. Its borders are very boring and the instrument cluster is also very new for better read out of the information. Apart from design, the quality of the material used for the bike is high and the paint finish looks rich. This new bike has been designed on the basis of Economical and Practical Indian Family motorcycle concept using the Blue Core Engine Development which is quite outstanding. It has been offered with a resin tank cover which is quite useful to cover an aggressive fuel tank. This 112kg model delivers the fuel efficiency by 10% more than its previous models. Next to fuel tank, it comprises a comfortable seating arrangement in which two adults can be seated in a relax manner. For better support of pillion rider, the bike comes with a grab rail at the back. The side profile is decorated with a long silencer in order to emit the smoke while starting the vehicle. The rear ends with a bright tail lamp for better vision while riding at night time and it has a beautiful mud flap preventing mud splash on the bike. In addition, the Saluto is fitted with a five spoke alloy wheels which looks very neat.

Yamaha Saluto Engine


Yamaha Saluto comes with a Blue Core Engine Development concept which is powered by a four stroke air cooled SOHC two valve single cylinder engine producing the displacement very close to 125cc. The new engine delivers the maximum power output of 8.2bhp at 7000rpm and maximum torque output of 10.1Nm at 4500rpm mated to four speed constant mesh transmission. Its bore and stroke is found to be approximately measured as 52.4mm and 57.9mm. The Saluto gets a carburetor fuel delivery system which results better fuel efficiency. Actually, the engine fitted with the bike has not been borrowed from its previous models and it is totally new for high fuel economy. In this technology, the company has used lighter parts and friction reducing components for good performance.

Yamaha Saluto Fuel Efficiency


There is no doubt in fuel efficiency since it has been packed with Blue Core philosophy and it returns an attractive mileage of 78kmpl. The fuel tank capacity of the Yamaha Saluto 125 is found to be approximately 7.6litres. It can accelerate from 0-60 seconds in just a fraction of seconds and it would give decent pick up and acceleration.

Brakes and Suspensions


Yamaha Saluto comes with an excellent braking and suspension technology for better ride and comfort. Both front and rear wheels are well equipped with 130mm drum brakes which helps to halt the vehicle once brakes are applied. On the other hand, the diamond chassis vehicle is easy to handle with a telescopic fork suspension at the front and swing arm suspension at the rear returns a comfortable ride. In addition, the Saluto has a tall and pulled back handlebar, forward set footpegs as well as a padded seat which leads to a well shaped tank ensuring comfortable seating posture. The vehicle is incorporated with a five spoke alloy wheels of tubeless tyres of size 80/100-18 47P at the front and 80/100-18 54P at the rear for better road gripness and it avoids unwanted skidding problems.

Verdict


Overall, Yamaha Saluto is good at design and style, fuel efficiency, ride and handling but it lacks disc brake option, advanced ABS technology, low power figure for its price. But it is really suitable for Indian family.
